🇨🇿🚅🇵🇱 Time to return north, except this time, there are adventures. Due to a snowmageddon in the region, upon arrival at Praha Hlavni Nadrazi I was greeted by the dreaded "CANCELLED" next to EC 260 Baltic Express to Gdynia Główna. Well, shit. 1/

Latest polls show KO opening up a significant lead over PiS. However, the weakness of KO's current coalition partners means PiS still has the likelier path to a governing majority. KO would only be able to form a majority coalition with Konfederacja at present.

I think it’s worth saying that assuming a ceasefire in place is reached in Ukraine—like with Israel and HAMAS in Gaza—it’ll merely be a temporary suspension in fighting that doesn’t resolve core tensions that created the conflict.

Russia isn’t going to stop wanting to erase Ukrainian sovereignty.

🇵🇱⚖️🇪🇺💍🏳️‍🌈I see a lot of "CJEU just legalised same-sex marriage across the EU" or "this is the EU Obergefell v Hodges moment" comments, and that's not quite the case. While the obligation for Poland to recognise same-sex unions concluded abroad is now clear, will the country follow it and adapt its laws?
The EU court has ruled that Poland must recognise the marriage of a Polish same-sex couple who married in Germany, even though Polish law does not allow such marriages.

The ruling requires Poland to change its system for recognising such marriages so as not to discriminate against same-sex couples.

Obviously the reason here is the long Habsburg/Prussian rule over Gleiwitz coupled with Silesian work ethic. If only Teutons ever conquered Great Britian, Brits wouldn't be enduring the misery right now.

(or maybe it's just EU membership + smart economic policy)
Over at the Daily Telegraph, they're scratching their heads as to why the former mining and steel producinv city of Gliwice in Poland is now 45% more prosperous than Darlington... and why it has new shiny infrastructure... without mentioning EU funds for urban and regional development...

Another data point for "what comes across as potty mouth/gregarious in US/UK communication is just standard early morning conversation in CEE".
I talk a lot abt the category error in defining opposition to fascism as Democratic. This guy--a guy on a scooter standing up for immigrants--is an example of why.

With bonus gratuitous potty mouth.
