Tonightβs Midgard Heroic Battles scrap: Hornchewer Hill. For the climax of our campaign, Prinz Alaric led his Dwarves against Azgoth Hornchewer. Despite driving the Orcs back up the hill, the Dwarves were beaten and Alaric escaped into the old mine workings. #wargaming #nerdlings #spreadthelard

One of the symptoms of Things Going to Shit was in the 80s when a 20-something kid, who's never worked, could get an MBA, instead of an MBA being something a Supervisor got at night school to be promoted into Exec ranks, taking their experience with them.

Nimitz I think shines at the Operational level, maneuvering task forces and carriers throwing waves of dive bombers at each other.
I had to seriously buff up destroyers to keep a DD & CA action going to make a game of it.

Victory at Sea is too simple for me (& I'm NOT a naval nerd). Too focused on the battlewagons. Once destroyers launch their torpedoes they may as well be throwing marshmallows at each other.
So playing the destroyer and cruiser actions that were most of the surface engagements is well, not a thing.
