My first thought was “wow I hope this guy didn’t give out his name because he could absolutely be charged” and yup, he is correct to stay anonymous.

This man’s account is shocking. His neighbors’ situation is shocking. The entire Chicago raid is shocking.

On the other side was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for his help.
"I wasn't planning on letting her stay, but I didn't know what the hell was going on," the man said of his Venezuelan migrant neighbors. But he quickly relented. The little girl was inconsolable and hid under his bed.
"I didn't want them to take her," said the man, who didn't want to be named because he fears he'll be targeted by federal authorities for his actions.
"I gave her my bedroom, and I just told her,
'Just stay there. Don't open, don't, shh, just stay quiet," he recalled telling the mom and daughter as he choked back tears.

This is heartening to hear and I suspect it's an approach similar to what Finland are doing?
"Those affected receive a small apartment and counselling – without preconditions.
4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life.
All this is cheaper than accepting homelessness."

Not gone -you are blaming Labour for the damage done by the Tories. Labour have improved the lives of many in the past year but it takes time to put right the wrongs of the past 15 years.

That is not Labour’s fault -they have taken steps to try and alleviate poverty but there is more to do.
They have indicated that the 2 child benefit cap will be lifted which will help but there will still be more to do- it can’t be fixed overnight

HC has been increased as has the minimum wage. Children get a breakfast at school, free nursery places increase in number o f doctors and appointments, funding for city centre regeneration etc
Not enough but getting there can’t reverse 14 yrs of austerity overnight

Are you aware of the increase in UCand the minimum wage?
The breakfast clubs, free nursery places , increase in no.of doctors and appointments, better Employments rights and better rights for renters etc ?
