Thank you so so much to Izzy Judd for talking publicly about being a parent to a kid with PDA. These kids’ parents are some of the hardest-working in the country and need empathy, not judgement. 👏👏👏

Two notable shifts in position by London’s political leaders last night.
1) Sadiq Khan, following pressure from the Green’s Zack Polanski, describing Israel’s actions in Gaza as a “genocide” for first time.
2) London Tory leader Susan Hall denying the Tommy Robinson march had a far-right element.

@janeharrislondon.bsky.social was on Sky News this morning representing @dcpcampaign.bsky.social ahead of the SEND rally today!

Reform is desperately needed so that children with SEND and their families don’t have to fight for the ordinary things in life.

It’s time to fix the SEND system. Because there’s nothing ‘special’ about an education that works for all of us.

Today parents are taking the #FightForOrdinary to Parliament.

Up bright and early to talk to @skynewsrss.bsky.social about disabled and neurodivergent children just wanting the ordinary things in life: a place to learn that feels safe where they can make friends.

We are unaware of any evidence at all that backs up Richard Tice’s random assertion. Nor are we aware of Reform having a policy on special educational needs and disabilities.

Children with speech and language challenges and their families just want the ordinary things that everyone should expect.

Getting the SEND reforms right would be transformational for the children at the heart of these reforms.

It’s time to fix the SEND system. A whole generation of disabled children and those with additional needs are being let down by a broken education system.

I was explaining to my Ukrainian colleague the phrase ‘There’s no such thing as a free lunch’. She told me the equivalent in Ukrainian is ‘The only free cheese is in the mousetrap’ - which is so much better

Thank you @samfr.bsky.social for so clearly saying what is needed on #SEND reform:
- work with charities and families
- a clear statement about how any changes benefit children, not just the Exchequer 👏👏👏

Two million children are struggling with talking and understanding words in the UK.

So, why has the Government stopped a successful early years programme which is helping children's speech and language development and confidence? #EYPDP
A turquoise graphic with a rounded black border. A large quote in bold black and teal text reads: “I just feel as though since I’ve done this course, everything’s more calm; I’m calm and it’s just letting [the child] know that I’m noticing what [they are] doing, praising expected behaviour, using [their] name a lot and it really seems to be working. It’s using language that supports their behaviour and wellbeing, that makes them feel like they’re important that really struck a chord with me.”
