Prosím, nemluvte o pravěkých společnostech jako o "tlupách". Tahle terminologie 19. století se nepoužívá už desítky let. Zkuste se příště poradit na jednom ze dvou ústavů archeologie, které na AV máte.

Women, non-native English speakers & those form low-income countries are disadvantaged in science but by how much? We found that women with non-English first languages from low-income countries publish up to 70% fewer in English than their counterparts. 1/5

Scientific productivity gap based on English-language peer-reviewed papers. Shown are the maximum % differences in the number of peer-reviewed papers published by female native English speakers from a high-income country (-45%), female non-native English speakers from a high-income country (-60%), and female non-native English speakers from a lower-middle income country (-70%), compared to male native English speakers from a high-income country (red flag).

One of the key points I make in "Heritage and Healing in Syria and Iraq" is about the roles and ethical responsibilities of archaeological and heritage organisations in conflict areas. In the following skeets is the text of my acceptance speech 1/n

🏺I spent a considerable time of my career feeling that I am trying to extract "sunbeams out of cucumbers". @benmarwick.bsky.social describes how to improve our current #publishing practice to avoid such feelings when extracting archaeological #data from publications.

Is archaeology a science? 🧪

Here's my new paper that has a go at answering this question by analysing 10,000 journal articles:

The 8.2 ka cold event was the most prominent climatic cold snap in northern Europe during the Holocene. It was a consequence of the rapid Early Holocene warming and came in the wake of ice sheet melting.

A thread about our new paper and a link to the OA publication at the end of the thread 😊 1/8
