I'm old.

If you're not, listen to this.

Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder.

Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever.

It's literally never been more important.

a user should be able to browse and interact with that website without employing a complicated network of energy intensive matrix-multiplication processes in a far-flung data-centre
Everyone knows data centers use a ton of water.

What hardly anyone knows: they can poison the water that remains.

And in eastern Oregon, Amazon is doing exactly that.

I frequently hear people say they don’t need to support older browsers because ‘everything auto-updates now’.

Here are some reasons that people might not have an up-to-date browser:

We're trying to do some good with this Black Friday period for Mat's course.

We've got an alternative coupon that will put £20 in Resilient Coders' pockets which both Mat and @piccalil.li match, turning that into a £60 donation.

A great org getting people into tech *for free*.

This a big deal: "China’s carbon dioxide emissions have been flat or falling for 18 months"

China's economy has grown by ~5% in the last year, so this comprehensively debunks the idea (again) that emissions are tied to growth. So yes, faster progress needed, but this is how you turn the corner.
