I wonder should Macron call a referendum on reducing the retirement age? He’ll lose it of course but could mark it as a clear and informed democratic decision of the French people to declare it the problem of future generations.

That referendum was the moment I knew Brexit could happen. When I saw the nonsense being written about AV I realised that whilst the British people are not stupid, they can chose to be willfully uninformed.

It’s interesting that MAGA assumes that every soldier will slavishly obey orders to suppress their own people. Some undoubtedly will, but I suspect there are soldiers of all ranks, some of whom may even have voted Trump, who will draw a line. Officers being shot by their own men is not a new concept

Trump: I am a very aesthetic person. I don't like some of the ships you are doing aesthetically. They say it is stealth. That's not stealth. An ugly ship is not necessary in order to say you are stealth.

They’re essentially a former of blood sacrifice: every year hundreds of Americans are sacrificed not so some some guy can carry an AR15 but that he can be unvetted. Switzerland has similar gun levels but they vet the crazies

The only thing Europe could do in the short term to make Russia and US sit up would be if France, Germany and Poland were to announce that under a secret treaty France had transferred tactical nuclear weapons capabilities to Germany and Poland, and both those countries were now nuclear powers.
