Chris Evans' Captain America is what DC has so desperately wanted Superman to be but failed to make him: a genuinely likeable hero who is, on account of that likeability, an absolute cash cow.

Everyone pretending they're not happy about Steve Rogers returning for Doomsday is going to see it anyway.

Gift cards to restaurants in relatively-low denominations. Like, "here's a $25 gift card to [steak restaurant I never frequent] for you and the Mrs." This means we: A) go get a soda and leave a tip; or B) spend like $40 (minimum) of our own money that we wouldn't otherwise spend to eat.
Let’s air those grievances. I want to hear your pettiest gripes on this the holiest of days.

"It is going to get so much worse."
For the first of two end-of-the-year episodes of @pandemia.bsky.social, I talked to @drdemetre.bsky.social about what happened in 2025 at the CDC and how he thinks about the future of vaccines and public health in the US.

ok so yeah, even before the recent new but *especially because of* the recent news, Firefox is a dumpster fire, so which Browser now?
Firefox is a battery killer on MacOS for tab-hoarders like me (also I've got 36gb RAM and Firefox still ends up using SSD swap!!!). Chrome doesn't allow the most effective ad-blocking extensions anymore. And I forget why I went with Firefox over Safari, but, anyone have any suggestions on browsers?

Pennsylvania Supreme Court rules that there are no 4th Amendment rights in your Google search terms. When you search on Google, you tell them your search terms; the government can get those queries without a warrant. The third-party doctrine applies.

I'll never not think of both Rob Reiner's and Kevin Pollak's interviews about this scene, years apart, telling the story of this scene from their own perspectives (both complimentary of everyone involved, but particularly Nicholson):

Damn. This is equal parts nostalgic and poignant. Written in a style reminiscent of King's "On Writing," for those familiar.

I do not trust anything in this article on the sources of Jeffrey Epstein’s wealth. My former boss Bob Gold was apparently a major source. Bob Gold is a fabulist to the extreme. I heard him retell stories where I was at the underlying event. His tales almost never matched reality.

Where are these funds coming from? Can a President simply conjure funds from thin air for an unsanctioned construction project, or is this a violation of the Antideficiency Act? @andycraig.bsky.social @hurricanexyz.bsky.social

Trump: "The only time anybody could see those planes was when those bomb chutes open up, because it becomes totally un-stealth. You're going in, you go like this. As soon as it goes like this, for some reason the plane is totally visible. Not good. I watched it happening. I watched it go bing bing"

I understand the import of MTG as a bellwether, but she's a giant piece of shit and that hasn't changed at all and neither has my preference to never see nor hear from her ever again unless she's on trial for something eventually.

Who's got a standing desk? Do you like it? Thinking about scooping the UpLift V3, but open to other recommendations. I'm less interested in the standing aspect than the sitting aspect tbh; I'd prefer that it go as low as possible -- though not as low as the GOP over the past 10 years.

Is there a more perfect summation of Trump's assault on the American economy than this? Well, yes, almost certainly there is, or else there will be (because he is a cancer to companies, consumers, and laborers to a degree we can hardly even fathom). But this is a pretty stark example, regardless:

I don't know, Aaron. I think we need to take this seriously. In fact, after surveying hundreds of years of history in the past few days, I've written an article assessing the originalist case here:
