Right now the biggest culprits for “taking advantage of the American economy” are the members of his own family and administration.

Wait, wait, WAIT! You've been screaming that the entire world is taking advantage of the United States. And now you're announcing that these two countries get to take advantage of the United States? Are you going to be calling their citizens garbage soon?

The United States Postal SERVICE, is, unsurprisingly, a service and necessarily has a cost. Framing the cost as *a loss* is disingenuous.

This will be used as an excuse to sell it. That's what happened in 2014 in the UK and the USA is openly corrupt now.

It’s intentional. Privatize, ruin a union. Another deliberate downgrade of our society. When only three delivery services rule, we will be stuck paying whatever they charge. Another part of the founding of this country that Rs are happy to destroy. Where were Dems on this when it could’ve mattered?
It's also mandated to provide service to every household/ resident in the country which Amazon will never do. It doesn't really make sense to me that USPS would contract out the last mile. (I also ended my WAPO subscription so I can't read the details).
December 4, 2025 at 7:35 PM
It’s intentional. Why didn’t Dems try harder to save USPS when they could? How many helped pass that pre-funding law, designed to break USPS? Rs love to destroy union jobs.
USPS is required by law to try to break even. It generally doesn’t take taxpayer dollars to fund operations.

That’s what makes this a monumental gamble from Steiner.

Amazon is USPS’s largest client — by far. And he’s letting them walk out the door, and even become a top competitor.

Destroy government functions, privatize everything so we have no say. This was the plan from Republicans for years. Our govt is being sold off & we will pay the price- literally
This was not Amazon’s preferred plan, I’m told.

Talks broke down with USPS over its plan to auction off last-mile delivery contracts rather than ink an extension with Amazon.

It’s a very aggressive move from the new postmaster general, Davis Steiner.

We scooped on his hiring back in May.

There is a concerted effort to destroy the USPS. These tech billionaires want to rule over every aspect of our lives. It sickening but no one will stop it. The Republicans, out to destroy American society & further the oligarchs, will cheer for this. 😫😫🤬🤬🤬
🚨SCOOP: Amazon is preparing to sever ties with USPS and expand its shipping network as a true coast-to-coast rival.

It could cost USPS more than *$6 billion* a year in lost revenue, and lead Amazon to dominate yet another facet of the economy.

USPS posted a *$9 billion* loss in 2025.

Bet on it. And we the precise will be expected to foot the bill when the mess breaks down. Savings & Loans, Enron, the banking bailout. Privatize the profit, socialize the risk as Paul Krugman said.
Private credit, banking, insurance, and multi-trillion dollar AI CAPEX are becoming increasingly interconnected.

My question to the Federal Reserve:
To what extent do these entanglements represent a potential source of systemic risk?
