tyranny is when you can't voice yer heterodox opinion on a micro-blogging site w/o reputational harm, not when paramilitary forces occupy a US city

tyranny is when they suggest you wear masks to keep ppl healthy, not when masked federal agents w/ guns abduct people or ask to see minorities' papers

It really is upsetting to see the Department of Labor—once headed by Frances Perkins, the woman behind the New Deal, who unapologetically bent immigration rules to save thousands of Jewish refugees from Nazi Germany—posting fascist Reichslop like this
A recent Department of Labor post uses a slogan similar to the Nazi propaganda slogan "One People, One Empire, One Leader”

The dirty tricks crowd hard at work trying to let a Chilean company mine in Minnesota’s famous Boundary Waters wilderness.

My question: why the f-ck didn't the Biden Admin file the mining ban in the Congressional Record? Is it really this simple / stupid?

Everybody should watch this and see this woman, who has a baby in her arms and is thrust into basically a standoff, develop courage in real time.

I can't describe how bad Minneapolis feels right now. My neighbors are pulling kids out of school. The public schools are offering remote learning until 2/12. We are having conversations in our alleys about how to protect ourselves. It feels like a military occupation with a blockade.
The US Department of Agriculture suspends all federal funding to Minnesota, effective immediately.

She is aggressively trying to turn the wheel AWAY from the ICE agent. It is her very last action. They provoke her, surround her, then kill her in cold blood. I have barely slept since this happened and I don't think I'll ever stop being angry about this.
i have watched the shooter's video. it's going to make you way the fuck madder.
I have watched the video. I think you probably do not need to watch the video. it shows what you think it's gonna show in terms of lack of justification.

Violence is too often sloppy; it spills over. Misogynists kill a lot of men, racists kill white people, ICE in its attacks on immigrants and anyone who looks like them just killed a white US citizen. When you're a hammer, everything looks like a nail; when you're a gun everyone is a target.

Abolish and prosecute ICE. They did a murder in broad daylight today. Imagine what they're doing in the closed facilities we're somehow not even allowed to see.

Awful news: razor wire is ”spreading like cancer” along the Arizona-Mexico border. This stuff really does not prevent illegal crossings, and it is a nightmare for wildlife (and unlucky humans).

A needless cause of suffering and death, IMO

Meet the world’s only known parasitic conifer, known as Parasitaxus usta, found in New Caledonia.

It gets its energy from its ”host,“ another conifer, from whose roots it sprouts, but also likely from fungi. A dark purple color, it lacks functional chlorophyll.

Fascinating and bizarre!
