A little about me and my aesthetic: I love books, cats, and the F-word, plus the LGBTQIA+ community, especially the transgender community.

For books, it's mostly sci-fi, fantasy, romance, mystery, and any combinations imaginable.
Tonight's trigger to get my 18yo to go away:

In a very upbeat and lively voice: "Do you want to hear about my book? I can tell you all about the book I'm reading!"

To counteract her telling me all about the game she's playing when I just want to read my book;)

I just started Star Splitter by Matthew J. Kirby.

The book I have gifted to others the most: Built to Last by Erin Hahn.

Consider this my recommendation.

The audiobook is pretty awesome, too.

Absolutely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and 🔥🔥🔥!

It’s time! The Bert's Books Secret Santa.

Sign up by 30th November, and pick a book you'd like to gift to someone else.

I'll work out the best person to send that book to - and in return you'll get a book to unwrap too!

Love this idea! I had a horrible time picking a book, though!

Today's way of scaring off the youngest when she's bothering me and won't go away: "Look at this vein! Feel it!"

Apparently arm veins creep her out.

Finally ready for bed.

My brain: here's a migraine!

My stomach: and some nausea!

Um, no thank you?
November 23, 2025 at 2:42 AM
Probably.

At least that makes some kind of sense. The rest of me is dysfunctional;)

I told my 18yo, "I can't explain why, by the thought of opening my email fills me with dread."

My child: "why?"

Me: "I JUST SAID I CAN'T EXPLAIN WHY."

But seriously: why?!?

I'm not expecting any news, bad or good. It'll mostly be spam, and only for the last week or so.

Completely irrational.

Are you rich now?

It's that "silly genre" that keeps me reading. Reality sucks.

I usually have to wake and confirm people are alive. Apparently my bad dreams include the deaths of the people I love. It doesn't help that I also now dream of loved ones who are already dead.

I spend my life now planning trips every two months, then spending a month before the trip resting, and spend a month after said trip recuperating.

It's two weeks until my next trip and I haven't left the house in two weeks. I'm honestly exhausted, but each trip becomes my reason to go on.

We'll need an update on which ones you accomplish;)
