36 years ago today…the Rolling Stones with special guest Living Colour at Cleveland Stadium. The Stones launched their 1989 tour on August 12, when they played a tiny New Haven, Conn., nightclub for a tuneup for 700 fans who paid $3 a piece.

45 years ago today…Led Zeppelin officially cancelled their 1980 North American tour. Bank checks and money orders for their Richfield Coliseum concerts on October 26 and 27 were being returned, following the tragic death of drummer John Bonham.

50 years ago today…Fleetwood Mac and Ambrosia performed two sell out shows at Kent State University. This was the first tour and Northeast Ohio appearance with the lineup that included Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.

38 years ago today…the first of two sold-out shows at Cleveland Stadium on the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour. It had been 10 years since Pink Floyd last played Cleveland, which was also at Municipal Stadium for Game 2 of the 1977 World Series of Rock.

61 years ago today…the Beatles at Cleveland Public Hall. It’s their first Cleveland appearance, which included a 10-minute interruption as a number of the 11,000 fans surged toward the stage. It’s the first time a Beatles’ concert had ever been halted.
