I guess this means I can talk about what I was working on for most of 2023 now! I had to learn a bunch about physics, treads, and combustion engines to get these tanks working. Especially the hover ones, that was some fun vector math I hadn't done before.

Have an Unreal bug that's only manifesting on Shipping builds. Unreal doesn't log in Shipping, so overrode that with:
bOverrideBuildEnvironment = true;
bUseLoggingInShipping = true;

Now Unreal won't package in Shipping with a linker error for default engine LogType macros. Anybody seen this?

I was able to find two results for this through Google searches, the first being a thread on the Unreal 4 forums complaining about the issue with no results. The second was some guy saying he fixed it but wasn't sure how, followed by a huge list of things I tried but did nothing.

Luckily, this isn't something that could ever happen in the real world, and only four or five people will ever be trying to access their servers at once. Definitely not a stunning foundational flaw that makes the whole thing even more embarrassing.

The company had also routed Live AI's traffic to its dev server to isolate it, but it ended up routing the Live AI traffic of everyone's glasses in the building to its server. "We DDoS'd ourselves, basically," he said. He continued that it didn't happen at rehearsal, because there weren't as many people wearing the glasses when they tested it out.

But also you're just an incredible idiot if you're trying to do a tech demo on stage like this without cheating. Even video game demos control for variance as tightly as possible. Demos like this are all smoke and mirrors because *your product is not ready yet*! If it was you would release it!
