Don't need no fascist groove thang, likes books and movies and cats and records and weird words and curious facts and also cats and did I mention cats?
With ice hockey, field hockey, and air hockey, hockey has most of the classical elements locked up.

Someone needs to invent fire hockey.

The fact that they're still making 'The Simpsons' is sort of like hearing that Grover Cleveland is still quite optimistic about his chances of gaining a third presidency.

Truly a mystery. Why would daycare centers—which take care of kids when their parents are working—not be full of kids during a time of year when many parents, even at the worst jobs, take vacation time, so they can spend holiday time with their families?

It is truly a mystery for the ages.

A review of my favorite record of 2025, Future Clouds & Radar's 'Big Weather'.
Clouds and radar, and the cotton is high…
I rarely narrow down my year’s favorites to name a singular Number One Record…but this year, one record stood out for me. And that’s Future Clouds & Radar’s Big Weather. I subscribe to leader R…

The woman who implausibly accused Joe Biden of sexual harassment several years ago? Is now a Russian citizen, posing here with a Russian-paid influencer.

What a coincidence!

"Pedophilia" is such an ugly, unpleasant word.

Since he loves naming things after himself so much, Trump should declare that, henceforth, pedophilia shall be referred to as "Trump Syndrome."

All these right-wing clowns, so desperately chasing an absurd and unrealistic image through extreme means.... It would be sad if they weren't so utterly hateful.
Decades of the white nationalist movement evolving to adapt to current political trends has brought them to this moment.

"Between the administration and the opposition are actual opposites of principle: among those committed to inclusion and those to exclusion; truth and lies; kindness and cruelty; the protection and destruction of systems that in turn protect the climate or public health."

Fuck this guy: musicians and other artists are not performing monkeys.
"Any artist cancelling their show at the Trump Kennedy Center over political differences isn't courageous or principled—they are selfish, intolerant, and have failed to meet the basic duty of a public artist: to perform for all people"- Kennedy Center spokesperson Roma Daravi
Kennedy Center vows to sue musician who canceled performance over Trump name change
The Kennedy Center is planning legal action after jazz musician Chuck Redd canceled an annual holiday concert. Redd pulled out after President Trump's name appeared on the building.

Scrabble last night was similar to a baseball game in which one team leads for most of the evening...until, at the very last moment, with a grand slam homer in the bottom of the 9th, the leader loses.

Re my prior post: Yang makes the excellent point that Italian immigrants were once thought incapable of "integrating" just as Miller thinks non-white immigrants are today...with plenty of historical evidence illustrating America's ugly history of racial/ethnic bigotry.
A reminder that Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra’s parents emigrated here during a period when Italians were considered to be a genetically inferior and criminal-minded underclass that Stephen Miller’s racist predecessors said should be excluded from America

Good lord, you'd think that with Stephen Miller, Evil would be the clear victor...but Stupid is putting in a very strong performance here.
Dean Martin, born Dino Paul Crocetti, son of Italian immigrant Gaetano Crocetti

Frank Sinatra, son of Italian immigrants Antonino Sinatra and Natalina Garavanta

Merry Christmas to everyone except Stephen Miller and his enablers and handlers

This headline (imported from the article's source at votebeat org) is misleading, in that "suspicion" seems far too generalized, and implies at least some justification...when the actual headline would be more accurate as "Why Republicans Constantly Lie About the Reliability of Milwaukee Elections."

Interesting article—not much that many of us were unaware of...but I'm kind of amazed Sargent just let drop Steve Bannon's claim that one of Miller's three most-influential writers was Oswald Spengler.

Spengler was, of course, early on the Nazis' favorite historian.
Now that Bari Weiss pulled a segment telling the truth about Trump's deportations to let Stephen Miller have his say (i.e. spread propaganda), it's a good time to check out our deep dive into Miller's real worldview and agenda, which doesn't pull any punches:

Last night I watched Paul Thomas Anderson's 'One Battle After Another' which is, famously, based on Thomas Pynchon's 'Vineland'.

I'm one of the apparent minority of folks who enjoy 'Vineland' quite a bit, but there's a reason Anderson changed title and says "inspired by" rather than "adaptation."
