Criticizing Democrats from the left does not reinforce right wing arguments. (indeed, fwiw, it makes Democrats seem more moderate!)

Criticizing Democrats from the right reinforces MAGA criticism.
The *vibe* of the new publication is clearly “we are here to defend liberalism against its leftwing assailants.”

Launching that sort of publication in summer 2025 is, let’s just say, *A CHOICE*.

There is an evergreen market for that sort of writing. You will never go broke writing this stuff.
This is effed up.

Highly recommend setting aside some time to read the full investigation into Oregon's AI-fueled toxic drinking water crisis by @rollingstone.com and @thefern.org

It’s one of the most important pieces of accountability reporting I’ve seen this year
‘The precedent is Flint’: How Oregon’s data center boom is supercharging a water crisis | Food and Environment Reporting Network
In the spring of 2022, Jim Doherty kept having the same conversation with folks at the only grocery store in Boardman, his eastern Oregon hometown, or at the grain depot where he picked up food for…

“Permitting reform” premised on “tech neutral” policy only favors fossil fuels for the duration of Trump 2.0.

It will, at best, provide only marginal benefit for renewables while hobbling future POTUS’ power to rein in fossil fuels.

I do not see a path that benefits the public interest.
Trump Is the Biggest Wild Card in Permitting Reform
Congress is motivated to pass a bipartisan deal, but Democrats are demanding limits on executive power.

This seems akin to the MAGA 6 on the Supreme Court overruling the Constitution in order to get Trump onto the 2024 ballot (and out of a likely stint in prison).
Cristiano Ronaldo has avoided a suspension for the start of next summer’s World Cup after FIFA handed the Portugal captain a three-match ban, with the final two games suspended for “a one-year probation period”.

It turns out Harris had a killer issue that she inexplicably chose to NOT run concerning "affordability"--and Trump just sold out America's tenants. Seems relevant!

Does Trump know he’s doing a terrible job? Hard to say; his admin is busy hiding and deleting the data that would show it. Health, climate, labor, and civil rights data are being axed to obscure facts and dodge accountability.

This is a fair critique. There’s a bad habit of selecting senior staff from other reserve banks to be reserve bank presidents, over people from the districts the banks represent.

Unfortunately, I think this administration is more interested in loyalists than fair representation.
Scott Bessent on CNBC this morning made sweeping criticisms of the regional Fed presidents. One scenario often discussed among analysts is that a Trump-controlled Fed board could decline to reappoint all the presidents when their terms expire at the end of February.

There is no greater need on the center-left and in the center than unity against AI (or crypto) bailouts.

If Trump does it, he has to do it alone with his oligarch pals, no Democratic support ala Pelosi/Obama in 2008 or Biden & Larry Summers in 2023 (SVB).
