I am a ghostly whisper, lost in sky, a stray thought ever fading, stubbornly asking why, wingtips glinting in starlight as through the frozen darkness I fly.

I'm an engineer / scientist / inventor who now mostly focuses on writing & music. Also, I'm a dragon, sort of. And sometimes confused, sort of. From time to time, I shall be posting photos of trees, cats, raccoons, owls, and deer from my tiny refuge of Jeffendell. (Plus some music, possibly.)

The BBC adaptation is not only one of my favourite adaptations of The Lord of the Rings, it also has some of my favourite music and favourite illustrations for Middle-earth, as well.

An all-round brilliant version and if you haven't, you should.

Process creates friction, so we got rid of process. But that friction was necessary for holding workslop at bay.

Because without slowing down, we can't ask "is this good? is this right?" We can only ask "when will it be done?" And that's a world where LLMs will always beat people.

Choose friction.
The myth of "no design process"
Process can add friction, but trying to get rid of friction by getting rid of process dooms design to irrelevance.

New system: We pay lots more money for Chinese goods, China pays us no money for our goods, and then we pay even more money to support the people that China is no longer paying

Interesting point :))
Imagine a modern writer throwing a character on stage to recite a long #soliloquy as a way of revealing his innermost thoughts and motivations.😱 "Show, don't tell!" the critics would scream. I guess William Shakespeare's English teacher never taught him about lazy writing.
