NEW: Four sources tell @mzeff.bsky.social that OpenAI has become reluctant to publish research on the negative economic impacts of AI, including job displacement.

At least two members of OpenAI's economic research team have recently quit over that perceived pullback.

NEW: The NDAA almost had right-to-repair language for the military supported by everyone from Hegseth to Warren in it. Alas! At least it doesn't have language mandating the military pay for subscription repair services in, which it could have. This is by @boone.bsky.social
The Military Almost Got the Right to Repair. Lawmakers Just Took It Away
The final language of the annual bill that funds the US military is in. It removes provisions that would have helped ensure servicemembers’ ability to fix their own equipment.

The fight isn't quite over. There will be one final vote, and then the bill goes to President Trump's desk to be signed into law. Even if that all goes through (as it is expected to) repair advocates are likely to fight this same battle a year from now when the funding is up for review.
