There's not a cell in my stomach that remembers the midnight DQPC. No oral tradition passed down, no written record left behind. All intestinal memory erased. They have no idea what to do right now.

The main way I track my age is the ever-growing window of time between the latest hour my body can handle caffeine and the earliest hour it can handle alcohol.

For the first time in years, there's a detached single-family home for sale in my neighborhood for under $500K.

I'll bet a dime for every current square foot against a nickel for every square foot in 2028 that it won't still be a 1084sf house in three years. Any takers?

HEARTWARMING: When people in this city learned a beloved daycare worker was walking miles to the school and back each day, every single citizen pitched in to buy them a transit system.

A person in Grundy County is 400x as likely to die from gun violence as a person in Queens. But a person in Queens is twice as likely to have a neighbor within a mile of them die from gun violence.

Perceptions of safety seem to be driven by the latter in a way our brains aren't wired to overcome.

Credit @wsmv.com for the headline and for not shying away from assigning agency and blame to the assailants or humanity to the victim:

"The investigation shows that a man and a woman were driving a blue Honda sedan on Nolensville Pike when they struck a person on a bicycle."

Why is Clay Travis alienating two thirds of his potential audience?
Four polls in recent days now have Trump in the 30s, with 3 at 35%-36%: 2/
35%-62% (-27) ARG
35%-56% (-21) High Point University
36%-60% (-24) Gallup
38%-57% (-19) Econ/YouGov
Again, Trump just keeps dropping.

Two polls released today have Trump at 35% job approval, his lowest yet.
35%-62% ARG
35%-56% High Point University

Economist/YouGov track had him at 38%-57%, their lowest reading this year. He just keeps dropping.

Wag the dog time!

optimization and personalization zealotry is, imo, the most consequential and dangerous ideology of the 21st century. more than the so-called post-liberals.
I think the shortest version of why LLMs are an anti education technology is that education is fundamentally about making shared context to understand ourselves, each other, and the world

And by design LLMs destroy shared context

I pulled up a 1989 NASCAR race to show the 4yo the real life Darrell Cartrip and Strip "The King" Weathers. He picked three favorites: Davey Allison, Dale Earnhardt, and Alan Kulwicki.

A lot of Todd Snider remembrances since Friday have linked Play a Train Song, his eulogy of East Nashville legend Skip Litz. Todd wrote this blog (🔗 @ end of 🧵) right after Skip died, a year before the song came out. It reveals a lot about "Uncle Skip," old East Nashville, and about Todd Snider. 1/
