It's equally plausible to me that we all turned off filtering out of kneejerk panic AND that Google is doing shady things, but my inbox is actually way more organized without the filters hiding 2/3 of my emails in tabs I rarely check, so.
since the "google is now training gemini on your email contents" thing keeps bumping around here: it's _not happening_. I say this not to defend google but because I know a lot of people that have broken their filtering and made their lives much more annoying from sheer misinformation.
The malwarebytes Google opting-your-emails-into-ai-training thing is not true. The post is based on one bad tweet.

I know anti-tech lamenting is a Bluesky core principle, but please use the same judgement you would for any other clickbait.

Unlike most apps these days, Scrivener does not use AI in any way. However, if you’re on a Mac, you may see an AI prompt.

The answer to "why do publishers keep doing this thing I don't like" is usually "because it makes money" and the answer to "why do authors keep doing this thing I don't like" is usually "because everyone else on social media is and they're willing to try anything that might work." The end.

At the same time the NY Times was hyping Hillary Clinton's emails, it had a reporter with emails from Jeffrey Epstein that were highly damaging to Trump.

The more NYT apologists try to minimize this the clearer it becomes that they don't understand why much of the public doesn't trust legacy media.

Alan Moore's Twilight of the Superheroes: Lost Gem or Dodged Bullet?
Maybe it's a good thing that Alan Moore's proposed TWILIGHT OF THE SUPERHEROES never came to be.

Mamdani has now gotten more votes than 1/4 of the members of the United States Senate did when they got elected. The political power being channeled here is immense.

Eric Adams is amazing because when he won every media person was leaping over each to go “this is the normal sane leadership that the political left doesn’t understand normal sane Americans crave” and then every day since that Eric Adams has been like “Leprechauns are real and I’m going to cook one”
