Simply a super paper! Beautiful and profound.
Yu Zhou, @chris-lingle.bsky.social et al. ask whether distinct β subunit isoforms coassemble in BK channel complexes or segregate into different complexes. They show that ternary β2:β3:α complexes form, consistent with a trinomial model of random mixing of β subunits. rupress.org/jgp/article/...

New work in JGP from the Barefield Lab!
Myosin binding protein H-like (terrible name) and its big brother, myosin binding protein-C have similar C'-terminal regions. Nonsense mutations in C protein are well known to prevent sarcomere incorporation. But what about this relatively unstudied paralog?
New study from Alvarez-Arce et al. @barefieldlab.bsky.social shows that premature stop variants in myosin-binding protein H-like prevent sarcomere incorporation of the translated protein regardless of the location of the premature stop along the protein. rupress.org/jgp/article/...

Wow- terrific review from an all star cast. Sadly a day too late for my Nociception lecture in our Biophysics master course.

Will go into an updated lecture next year!
