Its likely even worse than this map shows. It seems to only include some streets (can't quite tell the distinction). Lots of the mostly residential roads not included. Was confused why my block, which is not complete, wasn't shown.

Update: Felix Salmon (in comments to my post) has much more detail on what apparently happened with the $80 million FEMA funds.

Interesting table here on page 4 with % of all employed by district. Some red states are over 7%. crsreports.congress.gov/product/pdf/...

Hmm, frustrating. They could at least start to enforce the 50ft clearance for 6ft or more vehicles which is also a Portland law.
January 24, 2025 at 4:17 AM
The law is already on the books in Oregon, they just choose to not enforce.

A person is in violation of ORS 811.555 (Illegal stopping, standing or parking) if a person parks, stops or leaves standing a vehicle in any of the following places:

17: Within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection

I've never seen someone gaslight so much to throw other people under the bus to protect themselves. The board bought it over & over.

In one instance ED blamed a staff member for ED's own action & decision. Board bought it w/out any due diligence & blamed staff, even though entire thing was written.

Also unsurprising the continued gaslighting response to Guardian:

"...The investigation concluded in early 2024 and found no evidence of racism or behavior that violated anti-discrimination law or organizational policy,” said Robinson.

But THAT IS NOT TRUE! Investigation did find policy violation.

Has anyone asked PPB/PBOT why they can't even fix the culture issue in their own organizations? I regularly see PPB officers & PBOT employees speeding.

The saddest part of the new speed boards on Killingsworth is not that everyone ignores them (expected), but that even city employees ignore them.

DAIR's former fiscal sponsor--Code for Science and Society--quashed a Palestine statement. It led to a cascading set of awful decisions, ignoring issues of systematic anti-Black and anti-Palestinian racism, and forced nearly all staff to quit or be fired.

The Portland Plant list has been an invaluable resource, and I try to stick mostly to plants from that. It lists plants and ecosystem types that were in Portland before being destroyed by white colonizers.

There are so many plants I've never seen or heard of!

Annual fall seed order, yay!

I've been turning my yard from a hot terrible gravel mess into a diverse mini ecosystem. I get seeds from a few places, but Northwest Meadowscapes (northwestmeadowscapes.com) is my favorite.

They put so much care and creativity into their work.

Since 2015. Been good, generally no issues. Always on pixel phones, so may help. Can be crappy in some cities if the underlying carrier doesn't have great service.

I use minimal data so its nice and cheap.

But had friends that tried it with iPhones and ran into weird connection drops.
