the forum site can do it too, hence I'm not posting the link. Dropbox advice seemed to be to turn off antivirus. Needless to say, I won't be doing that or going near Dropbox again and will be finding a better site to transfer files. 2/2

A warning for any @dropbox.com users. I tried to download some files from Dropbox earlier and have since spent a couple of hours investigating why my Windows PC lost its internet connection. Found a forum post saying accessing the Dropbox site had done that!!! It also seems that accessing ... 🧵1/2

A #SurreyHills sunset yesterday for #Sharemondays2025
Hills with trees are silhouetted against the setting sun, mainly obscured behind a layer of grey cloud. Higher clouds with a pinky tinge loom over the scene.

She was arrested for holding a sign reading:

“I do not support the proscription of Palestine Action”

How that would warrant arrest is very unclear. I wonder if the police here even understand the boundaries of the bizarre law they’ve been forced to enforce.

Happy National Poetry Day to all those who celebrate.

This year’s theme is ‘play’ so here’s a poem which plays with some letters. It’s called ‘The Problem of Writing Poems in the Shape of Deciduous Trees’.
The Problem of Writing Poems
in the Shape of Deciduous Trees

[The poem has been written in the shape of a deciduous tree with letters (or ‘leaves’) missing from the text]:

trees is t at once t ere ar ives the fir t

ge tly  ntil their letters loos n

like leaves, an

down
then

[The missing letters from the tree have landed on the last line to form the phrase]

turntomushuponthegroun

[The final ‘d’ is floating down to complete the phrase.]

Today's Mavis pic...

Isn't it frustrating when there's a long wait between your drink and your meal being served?

A German Shepherd sitting on a dining chair at a table with a striped tablecloth on it. There is an empty mug on a coaster in front of her and she is looking around the photographer at something behind. There is a black fridge-freezer with fridge magnets and a calendar behind the dog.

It was rather a good pose - he looked quite proud of himself! Quite glad he didn't decide to kick off to show the younger ones who's boss 😬

I know! Does make it rather obvious we were standing next to each other! 😂 He was my favourite though. I did spot the red antler but I wasn't sure whether it was just discoloured - are they actually fighting yet?

Beautiful stag with additional decoration in Bushy Park yesterday
#Sharemondays2025
A beautiful stag who had been doing a lot of bellowing and was obviously quite pleased with his bracken headdress

In Britain, a former far-right Reform party politician has been convicted of taking bribes to promote Russian viewpoints.

Another scandal that should be the end of Reform but will be ignored unless we make a lot of noise about it.

The even more unbelievable crime fact (which I learned relatively recently) is that burglary has fallen by more than 90% since the 1990s.

Did anyone notice? Nope. Does anyone believe it? Nope. But is is true? It is!

Useful reminder from Peter Kellner on the problems we refuse to acknowledge are getting better, and the politics of hopelessness that this breeds

When you save a document to the cloud, it's actually looked after by a Samoyed.

The time it takes to download is really for figuring out which Samoyed has your file.
