Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

The nonagenarian creator of this three-cueing system has been laughing all the way to the bank since the 1960s. Horrifying.

Did you know that in Canada, if a budget doesn’t pass the government doesn’t shut down?

Federal workers aren’t furloughed.

Funding for social services doesn’t dry up.

Failure to pass a budget triggers an election.

It puts the politicians jobs on the line.

They get the budget passed.

I just want everyone to have the experience of living in dignity with access to sufficient food, safe housing, needed medical care, high quality education, and time to engage with what sparks their curiosity and spirit

this should not be controversial 🫠

Medicare, as of today, will no longer cover telehealth visits.

I can’t imagine a bigger slap in the face to our patients.

James: I entered into public service because I recognize the power of government—and that government should be, and has always been, a force for good.

For those reasons, I am defending the United States government—defending it against these illegal and unlawful acts by this president

Not a single international cargo ship at the Port of Seattle. The port is dead. The last ship from China will dock at a West coast port on the 29th, and the last Chinese ship will dock on the East coast around May 10th. After that, there will be no more shipments arriving from China. We’re screwed.

Tried to stop my dog from vomiting on our one nice rug in the living room. Ran across two rooms in socks and slid right into the splits. Watched helplessly as my dog continued to vomit on the rug.

My wife informed me I’m not ready to do drag.

It always boggles my mind that I, a journalist, am expressly forbidden from trading stocks, but members of Congress, with vastly greater knowledge of market-moving news, are allowed to profit by front-running markets, and so may profit by in essence stealing from the public they represent.

It’s a common misconception that ADHD is just an inability to focus. Really, it’s a struggle to control focus.

I can hyperfixate for hours on complex but pointless tasks and freeze on simple tasks.

Some days, my brain’s a Lamborghini with no brakes. Other days, a rusty bike with a stuck chain.

A reminder to reporters: Because Trump tariff numbers are made-up nonsense, using the phrase “reciprocal tariffs” is lying to your audience. The phrase itself is propaganda. They are not reciprocal.

When we're done with all of this, we should really get rid of:

- the two party system
- the presidency
- the US Senate

If we had a parlimentary, multi-party system, we could have elections in months to remove this clearly insane guy from office. Instead, we have to wait almost three years.

Get stomped, Musk rats.
Susan Crawford wins the Wisconsin Supreme Court election, according to many election analysts.

This after Elon Musk and others poured millions into anti-transgender advertisements in the state.

The anti-trans panic failed in Wisconsin.

This is a major victory for LGBTQ+ people in the state.

Things Democratic Senators could do that would be useful:

- Withdraw unanimous consent from all Senate business until constitutional rule was restored

- Refuse to vote for any legislation until constitutional rule was restored

- Boycott as a caucus until constitutional rule was restored

My wife watched Princess Mononoke for the first time. This was also her first ever Ghibli movie (believe me, I tried).

When I asked what her favorite part was, she said “welllll, there sure was a lot going on, but those forest spirits had the cutest little butts.” 🍑

Started playing a tea shop game, Wanderstop, this week. It’s delightful in many of the expected ways - interesting characters and narrative, calming game-mechanics.

I’m barely into it, and didn’t expect characters passing through without a wrapped-up storyline. Still processing my feelings there.

It's critical for everyone to remember what an Executive Order is. It is the President communicating orders to members of the executive branch. Policies to pursue, actions to take, etc. They are not laws. They are not close to being laws. They are formalized memos to employees. That's all.

INCREDIBLE Ruling!

Judge Reyes just ruled that transgender people have served honorably in the military, judges Trumps trans military ban - which states trans people are inherently dishonorable - as unconstitutional and motivated by animus.

Trans military members may continue to serve.
