The stats for lists on Letterboxd delivered me a little image that feels like an ideological statement on my part.

‘Reports about Alderaan’s explosion are conflicting,’ reports BBC News. ‘The Emperor says a “defensive shot” was fired, while others claim the planet was destroyed in an unprovoked attack’

How was this not anticipated? Ever since the advent of consumer-targeted LLMs there has been concern about using AI generated content to train AI. It’s a basic entry-level concern over the concept. We’re meant to be believe OpenAI is a trillion dollar company run by a genius? The other has bells on.

Thanks to advertising the website of just about any major UK newspaper is absolutely unusable. I realise people need to get paid somehow - and the options are by and large adverts or subscribe - but neither of those are going to work if you make me abandon in frustration as soon as I visit.

A photo editing tool I use has clearly replaced its previous algorithm for removal from an image with some sort of generative AI fill and it’s gone from being good, useful, and quick to terrible. Keep trying to airbrush a name from a football shirt and it keeps turning it into a hood from a hoodie.

Shooting someone in the head is being “too rough with somebody” in the same way that - to reach for another choice Von Clownstick phrasing - grabbing someone by the p***y is being ‘over familiar’.
Trump: "ICE is gonna be too rough with somebody. They're gonna make a mistake sometimes. I felt horribly when I was told the young woman had the tragedy. But when I learned her father is - I hope he still is, but I don't know - was a tremendous Trump fan. It's terrible. It's so sad. It just happens"

I have literally done that very thing he says. Many times.
Nice to have a CEO who publicly declares his product is so worthless the consumer will put in zero effort to get it.

Like that classic ad campaign "I ain't doing jack shit for a Klondike Bar"

Little slow to publication with my review of MARTY SUPREME, but have a read - it's a film I had (but also needed!) a lot of time for. Review for @takeonecinema.net below!

I genuinely do not get this. Xitter is a private company/platform.
Nobody is obligated to use it. It isn't a public utility or metaphorical high ground. It's no more valuable to maintain than Truth Social would be. If a bar becomes a fascist paedophile hangout, you stop drinking at that bar.

Unironically, aside from picture quality, I miss the days when my TV was as dumb as hell and connected to everything via SCART and component cables. Even if you don’t think a TV is spying on you to some extent, the UX and UI are fucking abysmal anyway.
Finished the fascinating book 'Enshitification' by Cory Doctorow and learned that many smart TV brands now covertly (but legally) report exactly what you're watching, even if you only use your TV as a dumb HDMI display like I do. 😯
Disconnecting it from the Wi-Fi but am I just being paranoid?

Very much at the point where if you’re still actively using Xitter you’re either insane or addicted to clicks & existing follower counts or something. I maybe understood it 9-12 months ago, but not now. The censorship in question here is *sexual images of minors FFS*.

I have a long history of being suspicious at best, hostile at worst to the Alamo Drafthouse ‘experience’. Also, their response to projectionists looking to unionize was to eliminate projectionists & replace them w/ ‘technical engineers’. They’re not worthy of a pedestal. variety.com/2026/film/ne...

When you first got a TV you needed to push or hold some buttons up and down to make sure you got the correct channel assigned to the correct number on the remote control.
Without revealing your actual age, what's something you remember that if you told a younger person they wouldn't understand?

I have thoughts on the music, the framerate(s), casting, the female characters, and more which I may put into an actual review, but the overarching feeling is there’s not much new here given any time to develop despite the bloated length. For some that’s great, for others not so much.

For the sake of argument…let’s say someone is turning their car, and then starts to move forward. You’re about 4 feet in front of the bumper and they may (may) run into you. Has anyone explained how shooting the driver in the head supposedly addresses that?
