Verizon, we ain’t friends.

Be a phone. Be inanimate.

I don’t want to see a “Best Friends Forever” scrapbook my microwave made and I don’t want to see this shit.

Before the Hays Code slammed the door, Hollywood told bolder stories. Morocco (1930), now in the public domain, preserves a fleeting vision of a Hollywood before the hammer of the censor fell.

What is this clickbait fetishization with claiming things are improvised?

Fantastic Mr. Fox should’ve broken this barrier years ago
way more animated movies* should be up for awards like costuming and production design, which often feature some of the most striking looks and environments (now let’s talk about cinematography)
The Truth About the Avatar Movies That No One Wants to Accept
James Cameron and his stars are desperate to convince the world that these movies aren’t “cartoons.” Why bother?

Would've been cool to have a horror performance in all 4 acting categories. Just sayin'.

Two performances I loved that couldn't get any traction going this year:

Andrew Scott in Blue Moon
Nina Hoss in Hedda

Also, Sally Hawkins' tremendous work in Bring Her Back was forgotten entirely but she's as good as any of the (very fine) nominees.

To people saying Sinners got the record because it had a new category:

All About Eve benefited from all the visual categories being divided into color and B&W plus an extra score category

La La Land and Titanic had an extra sound category Sinners certainly would've snagged

So maybe shut up?
16 is the number and takes away those “only will get the record because of the new category” takes that I started seeing.

Incredible that SINNERS now holds this distinction - for so many reasons. A stunning film and viewing experience we will talk about long after awards season comes to an end.
‘SINNERS’ has broken history as the MOST-NOMINATED FILM OF ALL TIME at the Oscars with 16 nominations

Just realized Plemons pulled the short straw to make room for Wagner Moura. Damn. A really fine performance, that.

Mica Levi, Under the Skin. One of the most influential and ripped-off film scores of all time, justifiably. Up there in the stratosphere with Bernard Herrmann's Psycho and John Williams's Jaws.
Favorite modern (this century) horror movie soundtracks? Off the top of my head I've got Disasterpeace's for IT FOLLOWS, RAW by Jim Williams, and 28 DAYS LATER by John Murphy.

OpenAI has absolutely zero ideas. They have no business. This is not a real business line and it’s so utterly vague and specious, I’m shocked at the credulousness to just print it without saying “there is no logical way this works of course” or talking about how the CFO of OpenAI is saying nonsense

This is just my opinion, but if there isn't a piece of music that reduces you to an absolute puddle of tears, you aren't really living.
