Last night I wrote, “It’s going to be another blockbuster, high-stakes legal week. If you feel a bit overwhelmed...remember that I’ll be here for you all week to try and keep things organized and understandable.” I didn’t expect it to be this soon, but here we are. open.substack.com/pub/joycevan...

💯. It wasn't about just the ACA subsides—it was about those and … everything else.

The President wouldn't last five minutes as an air traffic controller, and after everything they've been through - and the way this administration has treated them from Day One - he has no business shitting on them now.

Well I don’t get it. I keep getting “Listifications” of accounts blocking me.
Wow! I didn’t think I was that controversial or rude on here.

one year ago today, I wrote a post called "let’s celebrate acts of defiance." I think it still holds up. the people I wrote about three days after the election are still pretty much the people leading the way a year later.

Why are ICE agents being paid during the shutdown, but not air traffic controllers? 🤨

“More and more cabinet members — Rubio, Miller, Noem — live on military bases now, & it's another parallel to Iraq, where the administration lived in the Green Zone. There’s something deeply unhealthy about a society where leaders are literally shut off from the communities that they govern.”

Seriously? He has no idea how insurance works or how to govern. I’ll never get over 77 million people thinking a man this incompetent belongs anywhere near the Oval Office.

Fist circuit denies emergent relief from district court order requiring resumption of SNAP food payments. Administration rushes to Supreme Court. Why they’re hellbent on this one is hard to understand— it’s patently cruel.

How sad is it that the richest country on Earth has a government that has to be forced to feed families with hungry children?

SNAP benefits shouldn’t be a courtroom battle. People shouldn’t have to beg for basic humanity. But here we are.

Socialism is what they called public power.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.

Shapiro: He rose to some prominence by writing a book about growing up in Appalachia, where there are a whole lot of people who get SNAP. He made millions of dollars off telling their stories, and then he turned his damn back on those very people he likes to write about and claim as his own.

MSNBC: Where's the urgency to end this shutdown in Washington?

JEFFRIES: That's a great question. It should be asked of Mike Johnson. Where's the urgency in actually bringing the House back into session? They have canceled votes for the last 6 weeks.
