In the last ep of Marc Maron’s podcast, he again reiterated that being audio-only improved the quality of the conversations. The guests didn’t have to perform for video; they could more easily be themselves in a casual environment.

I saw a video on the various reasons companies post job ads for jobs that don’t exist. It makes it look like the company is growing, which appeases shareholders and the market. It makes existing workers worry that their jobs are at risk so they work more, etc., it helps HR justify its own jobs.

I’m writing a novel that takes place downtown in 1981, and the research is tripping me out. I lived in North York then and came downtown for fun, but seeing photos now of streets I knew then is both weirdly familiar and utterly alien. I now remember this cheesy “Gourmet” sign at Bloor and Yonge.
