BSPD’s #RightsFromTheStart raised awareness of #childrensrights. Pleased to have a letter published in @bmj.com online today:

Children’s right to oral health—day to day, right from the start www.bmj.com/content/388/...

Find @bspdofficial.bsky.social A4 factsheet here www.bspd.co.uk/Rights-from-...
A colourful factsheet or A4 poster entitled ‘Children’s Rights From The Start’ with cartoon children and text summarising children’s rights, with the logos of BSPD, which led the project, and those of the BDA, NSPCC and UNICEF UK, working in partnership

Utterly bonkers about conkers!

Horse Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum)

A pocketful of shiny conkers and their cases, tipped on to a kitchen worktop The yellow-green spiky case of a ripe conker has split open to reveal the shiny chestnut-brown fruit inside

It was a indeed… and a welcome break on a long hot journey!

Thank you for confirming

I love it when the #wildflowerhour challenge prompts me to find a plant I’ve never noticed before. Could this be Trifid Bur Marigold (Bidens tripartita)?

I was photographing bees on Common Knapweed (Centaurea nigra) when I spied something HUGE and GOLD out of the corner of my eye 😳.

Green-veined White #butterfly on Great Willowherb (Epilobium hirsutum) for #wildflowerhour #PollinatorPals challenge. The flower’s landing pad is helpfully marked out with a cross, that of a 4-lobed stigma.

Thank you - I saw one of these last week and wondered what it was!

Awww, very kind words but now it’s my time to pass on the baton! ☺️

Tiny as they are, eyebrights (Euphrasia spp.) always catch my attention. Here growing on the floor of a disused limestone quarry, at the butterfly heaven that is Hoe Grange Quarry, Derbyshire

It must be Wild Carrot (Daucus carota), here buffeted by the wind on the approach road to Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire

My camera was trained on this rather scruffy skipper when I realised it had led me to a plant new to me that I recognised from #wildflowerhour!

So much here to share with parents who are struggling to support their child with #toothbrushing. All the obvious things but also, I’m embarrassed to say, a whole load of extras in the bathroom I’d not thought of.

Well done toothPASTE study!

One of the most loved resources on the toothPASTE website is Sensory Detective- a bathroom checklist co-created with OT @saskiagrassie.bsky.social. It helps spot sensory factors that may impact autistic children during toothbrushing. Free to download: www.autismtoothcare.com/toothbrushin...

Effective toothbrushing in childhood is the gateway to a lifetime of #oralhealth. And I’m pretty sure that no one has taken more care to understand the needs of #autistic #children than Dr Amrit Chauhan. Resources developed by the toothPASTE study are now online 👀 👏

Harebells were outnumbered by drifts of Small Scabious in the Yorkshire Dales nature reserves we explored this week, but there’s always something special about those perfect papery bells nodding in the breeze.

Lesser Meadow-rue (Thalictrum minus)

One of many gorgeous plants seen on limestone pavements in the Yorkshire Dales this week. But this one was so dainty and hard to spot, it could be wearing an invisibility cloak

Field Scabious. Not the hairiest of #hairyplants, but it was the favourite of bees and butterflies on the #MonsalTrail this week. And it’s the one I’ve chosen for this evening’s #wildflowerhour challenge
