Go outside and look at the moon! 🌒

You'll also see Matt Knight, Hugo Anderson-Whymark and the amazing Alison Sheridan.
From min 33, there's a section on Dunchraigaig Cairn deer carvings, which had only been announced to the world the year before, but known to Hamish Fenton (who told me about it and discovered it) much earlier.

A few years ago I was invited to take part in the History Hit documentary "Mysteries of Prehistoric Scotland". I thought you'd need a subscription to watch the whole episode, but it just randomly appeared as a suggestion for me to watch on YouTube. But you can watch the whole thing here...

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

Kemi Badenoch claiming Terry Pratchett as her favourite author is wild

Yes I have very good memories of taking him out, but it wasn’t easy… Nothing was easy… we couldn’t really afford childcare, most of my work was done while he was napping or through the night. But it was wonderful to be able to spend time with him

If I had to resume my PhD experience to one photo...
Photo of me doing fieldwork, carrying my then 2 year old son, scale bars, a camera bag on my shoulder. This was in Ireland, there are hills behind me and rocks on the bottom of the photos. The weather was bleak and grey.

Yes, I guess these are the challenges we will be facing more and more...

Yes I know. I look forward to it 😊

In this case, these are supposed to be the digital generations, and it's remarkable who unprepared they seem, to do the most basic of things...

I was told today by a student that the last time they had access to a computer was in primary school so they weren’t too familiar. But I’m glad they have me a heads up.

I’m finding the same thing, and other basic computer skills. Maybe they don’t and they may not have had access to a computer because everything is tablet based

People advocate for digital literacy which in our current world is fundamental. But what I’m finding is that kids don’t know how to operate a computer bc their digital literacy is tablet/smartphone based. Is this the end of computers or how useful is this kind of digital literacy for their future?

Not sure people realize how INSANELY DRAINING data centers will be on our planet.

If you imagine data centers as their own country, they'll rank fourth in global electricity use by 2035 — outranked only by China, India, and the U.S.

Read this in @bloomberg.com👇

AI Data Centers Are Sending Power Bills Soaring
Wholesale electricity costs as much as 267% more than it did five years ago in areas near data centers. That’s being passed on to customers.

Well, to be honest I don’t see the situation being much better in other places at the moment…

You should see my country, not very different. It’s not a “country” problem right now, much more universal than that unfortunately

It’s that because there are so many foreigners here and so few heritage jobs British people can’t find work and are struggling. And can’t find jobs abroad because it’s difficult to do that now
