Yeah that's also remarkable! I understand why BotW added a jump button later but keeping the experience really grounded is a really interesting constraint.

It's so clever and ambitious, yet has that weird janky feeling of skilled developers exploring the possibilities of interaction in a 3D space for the first time. A mix of stuff that will become foundational to multiple genres and also strange mechanical tangents that give it a unique rhythm.

Nobody in my life knows what a Metroidvania is. It's sad. I try and tell them about non-linear progression but they just ask if I'm okay.
