An actual progressive candidate said this tonight-
“I reached out as soon as I pulled papers & they told me they weren’t doing endorsements until after the prelim (they did them before) so I asked to please be informed about when I could apply for an endorsement for the general and they ignored me”

Let me amend- he didn’t say we “should”- he recalled a resident mentioning that to him- in a way that suggested he considered it positively.

1st time I ran he INSISTED they would ONLY endorse candidates who voted for the lowest residential tax rate. His wife ofc hasn’t. Then, subsequently they didn’t even invite me or any other progressives 🤷‍♀️

This is the guy who also called labor leaders recently whining why they support Etel. 🙄

This is an embarrassment to the labor movement. Please do something about it.

His wife who thinks destitute seniors should work in city hall for free to “work off” their property taxes. Candidates who were vehemently against a rental registry. And who just voted DOWN opting into a state fire sprinkler ordinance. Endorsed by the Chief!

His school committee endorsements include a woman who organized a bus trip to January 6th, who is endorsed by the 1776 PAC. Another who was protested by students for racists comments and policies. Candidates who voted down measures to protect trans kids when Trump started for them.

Dearest Legislators,

It has come to my attention that you plan to override Governor Healey's July veto of nearly $20M in charter school tuition reimbursement. As this represents millions of dollars to some of the most needy districts in the state1, this is very helpful. Thank you!

Many of you are no doubt under the impression that this money goes, as is intended by state law, to the school districts themselves. This is, however, is the case only for regional school districts. For municipal school districts, because charter school tuition reimbursement isn't designated as going to schools "without additional appropriation," the money goes to the city or town general fund.

Cities and towns have long since passed their budgets. Unless someone takes additional action, these funds you intend for schools will not go to schools.

Were it possible for you to pass these funds with language so designating them, that would be most useful.

If not, perhaps you could ensure that the Department of Revenue generates updated cherry sheets, and you could ensure the cities and towns in your districts are aware of where the money should go?

When asked to support local candidates Friday night, @repmcgovern.bsky.social made reference to the fact he doesn’t endorse in local elections.
But if there has ever been a time to reverse course on that policy- JFC now is that time.
