Chaotic ICE arrest in Worcester leads to second arrest by local police
Witnesses believe that the two women who were arrested were mother and daughter, with ICE arresting the mother and Worcester police arresting the daughter.

In footage being shown from body worn cameras at @etelhaxhiaj.bsky.social trial, community members are asking WPD to check ICE warrants/confirm whether they should be there and to intervene. Officers testifying today say their job was to allow ICE safe passage. You can hear the daughter screaming.

McGuirk says her six-month police training included de-escalation, helping people in crisis.

Now both officers have testified that they were responding to calls that ICE were being surrounded and "needed help" here at @etelhaxhiaj.bsky.social trial. This has been the opposite of public statements up until now.

Or DEA he said. A few he might have recognized from other times.
People were approaching Hanlon and asking him to intervene. Says the federal agents had badges. Says they had a woman in custody. He recognized one or two ATF agents who were also there.

"unfortunately had to handcuff a 17 year old" and they very explicitly say it's not about what ICE was doing but what they don't say is that 17 year old was body slammed on the ground by WPD and has been torn from her family.
Says police had to detain a 17 year old. Haxhiaj objected to the arrest and put her hands on McGurk again, bumped into another officer, was interfering.

"ICE called the police to help them and they showed up to help ICE" is a real admission of a thing they've been saying didn't happen for months.
Says onlookers showed up on street and ICE was "outnumbered and surrounded," called Worcester PD to "keep the peace and make sure no one gets hurt."

"these ICE agents find themselves outnumbered and call the Worcester Police to help. And Worcester answered the call."
Gagne is doing the opening guy the DA. Says it was a "difficult day" when ICE arrested a person in Worcester. Says there won't be much evidence about what ICE did, whether they had a warrant.

🧵 for the first day of trial of @etelhaxhiaj.bsky.social who is being maliciously prosecuted for literally putting her body between ICE and one of her constituents that they were illegally trying to steal from her family. The constituent has since been granted asylum.
At #Worcester District Court for the trial of @etelhaxhiaj.bsky.social. Huge crowd here.
The Northwestern DA's Office is prosecuting a former #Worcester city councilor and another community member for allegedly assaulting Worcester cops who were aiding ICE while they used the children of a mother with a valid asylum claim as bait to lure her out and kidnap her.

I was denied the ability to bring a camera into the courtroom despite having the proper paperwork. This is the first time this has happened to me.

I filed a motion with the clerk's office and called the Supreme Judicial Court, but it appears the courtroom is full and I'm locked out for now.

Had back to back meetings from 11-8 today and then successfully changed the broken heating element on our 14 year old oven which appears to *not* be the reason the oven won't heat up. So it's been a day. But the kid is in bed with the lights out before 11 so I'm taking the win.
