wint @dril
drunk driving may kill a lot of people, but it also helps a lot of people get to work on time, so, it;s impossible to say if its bad or not,

The oft ignored caveat to “it’s just help” is that discipline is in short supply for most developers on a somewhat regular basis. So, when getting something done feels better than locking in it’s uncertain if it’s a net gain.

All that to say, we don’t know where and when this is a net win yet. 🤷

“Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.”

I have to say following tweets about this book for the last few months has given me a sense that it has a necronomiconesque quality, filled to the overflowing with eldritch knowledge and horrors (and as I write this it occurs me that may be altogether appropriate given the actual subject matter)

we’re already so close to 40k, prompt engineering is effectively praying to the machine spirit and thermal paste is really just a machine salve

I'm not really superstitious about anything, except the computer, which must be restarted if it has been on too long, to cleanse it of bad or negative energies

What you both say is fair and correct but I really have experienced not feeling up to programming when the stakes are high and these techniques are my safety net, eg types and refactoring.

Anyway, I guess I’d say the folks who usually do this are mostly guilty of being a bit too pithy?

Just got around to watching stage 16 of the Vuelta and I swear I’m not crying. An Egan Bernal stage win is all I wanted from this sport for the last few years. After nearly dying in an awful training accident he’s back to winning. Incredible person, amazing cyclist, brilliant win.
