At least they’re being honest this is a cost-cutting measure here rather than the usual mental gymnastics involved in claiming lesser qualified staff provide better care

I don’t think it’s unreasonable for patients to expect access to a named professional with knowledge of them, their conditions and how they may interact. Perhaps we could call this role ‘a doctor’.

This is a good illustration of how replacing medical generalists with super-specialised (often non-doctor led) services results in large inefficiencies and worse patient outcomes.
Our health and care system is set up to treat single conditions, not reflecting the growing number of people with multiple long-term conditions. In her blog, Cheryl Gowar explores the ways care for multiple conditions could improve and what good would look like for her care.

This is a good illustration of how replacing medical generalists with super-specialised (often non-doctor led) services results in large inefficiencies and worse patient outcomes.
I personally don’t believe any manager could have got more out of the squad than Silva has this season. Pivotal summer ahead and, if he stays, he deserves significant backing #FFC

The GMC, the doctor’s regulator, now licences individuals with no medical qualifications as ‘medical professionals’ and refutes any statutory duty to protect patient safety. It fails to uphold its one purpose.
BMA are considering next steps after a disappointing ruling from the High Court in our case against the GMC for blurring the lines between doctors and physician associates.
