Great article on a little-known mystery of the Great Lakes.

Three new French minesweepers sailed out of Thunder Bay, #Ontario just after the 1918 Armistice, and only one was ever seen again. What happened to the other two on Lake Superior? #cdnhist

Well, two years' work has come to fruition. This month, the journal Ontario History has published my article on the history of the Ontario flag. Check it out!

It was a discussion by @spaikin.bsky.social on TVO that sparked my interest.

Went through a small English town many years ago. Its central church has a clock on its tower, but Alcester is different as the clock face is at an angle, to face down the High Street.
Additionally, the outline of a Roman fort can be found in the Waitrose supermarket's carpark/parking lot. #England

Great quiz - a lot to learn about Oz!
For non-Australians, this quiz might give an indication of how far things are away from each other in Australia.

TBH things are a lot of further than I expect too!
Warning: this quiz is tough — how good are you at guesstimating how far apart Australian cities are?

On a recent visit to a Hamilton museum, I found a memorial to one of the few RHLI officers who escaped the Dieppe landings. Interestingly showing a rare mid-20th-century Canadian Army battle flag. I think this is the first 'real' one I have seen. @forrestpass.bsky.social @otdmilhistory.bsky.social

I was really excited to join a special tour of Clapham South Deep Level Shelter this afternoon with IWM's patrons. A fascinating history beyond the Second World War, with an afterlife including being a hostel and labour exchange for those on the Windrush, and a hotel for the Festival of Britain

I thought the unique third Scottish verdict was abolished in the early 18th century but juries just kept on returning it nonetheless?

A deeply weird but unmissable series.
It was one of the most psychedelic, bizarre and beloved Canadian children's shows ever made.
Structured like a sketch comedy show around the comedic genius of Billy Van, it is well remembered even to this day.
This is the story of The Hilarious House of Frightenstein!
