I was gonna say Christmas Mom sounds like a made up show that would exist in Bojack Horseman but then I remembered they literally had Birthday Dad

(The match itself starts at four minutes in; the only thing you need to know is that in addition to normal wrestling rules, anyone who breaks the light tube loses. Despite the "deathmatch" in the title, there's no blood or anything like that.)

I don't need to play Shenmue for Goths. I already lived it

I would wishlist all three of these and probably buy bug girl powerstone

I like how we’re getting “jet set radio but you’re a train”, “tony hawk but you’re a demon” and “ready 2 rumble but you’re a muppet.” Let’s see what else we got. Power Stone with bug girls. Bass Fishing with homosexuals. Shenmue for Goths.

Bearded vultures are so cool. They dye their feathers red and their nests have been known to contain stashes of human artifacts dating back hundreds of years. They're like the Etsy resellers of the avian world. Also they eat bones and I dunno how that factors into it but it's cool

One common challenge when translating horror manga is that the Japanese language is basically tailor-made for stories where it seems like characters carry on normal conversations with the protagonist for dozens of pages until you hit the last page and it turns out they're a ghost nobody can perceive

I have always had a strong emotional reaction to music. I was basically the millennial snob version of that kid on tiktok who thought they were religious until they went to a One Direction concert and realized they just like music

One of the strongest indicators that I'd attained a high level of Japanese proficiency was when I realized that songs in Japanese could reduce me to a blubbering mess without my having to stop and deliberately parse the lyrics

What if instead of working this morning, I listened to all the songs in my old "top five saddest songs ever" list to see if I still think they're the saddest and gave myself a headache from crying

Bonus: *not* pronouncing "Ponce de Leon" exactly as it looks also works

"Atlanta"

What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

I dunno if I'm ready to hear the boys talk about "Gamerfingers"

I've enlisted the services of a local metal shop to cut a custom arcade controller panel for me. Either I am approaching my true endgame stick, or I've just opened the door to a whole new dimension of tweaking instead of actually playing games that I can never shut again

The urge is so strong, especially since I know my clients wouldn't care or even notice 99% of the time, but one time I used LibreOffice instead of Office on a trial and I guess my prospective client's specific environment freaked out over how it handled indents and it's made me wary ever since

We love hitting a moment of horror story catharsis so intense we go "fuck." out loud and then realizing there's still a third of the book left to go, don't we?

Reading Felker-Martin's "Cuckoo" and playing Slay the Princess at the same time, and while I certainly wouldn't say they're similar, they do rhyme in interesting ways here and there.

I'm giving myself a B+ for what I came up with for this. I didn't have a lot of wiggle room in terms of what it had to sound like, but I managed to submit something that made me go "yuck" every time I read it back.

What's better than a pun so specific, you know you're going to have to chew on how to translate it all the way up to your deadline? When it's nearly unprintably vulgar, that's what!

This is why my candy cab of choice, should I be so lucky as to get to choose one, would be the Egret II, which has a mechanism to rotate the screen relatively easily (but let's be real, I'm prolly leaving it on tate mode anyway)

SHMUPS rock as a category if only because they made guys who worked at arcades physically rotate the CRTs to change games.

Of all my tweets this is one of the ones I stand by the most firmly
A tweet the poster made in 2018 reading:
"Seeing a lot of people explain why Evangelion is relevant because it was influential or iconic or opened their youthful minds to media analysis or whatever but: the reason Neon Genesis Evangelion is relevant in 2018 is because Neon Genesis Evangelion is fucking good"
