I agree they do make mistakes butIt depends on the fine-tuning of the model and what information youโ€™re asking.

A good approach is to ask it to verify information or check the internet for sources.

Again, the tool is not the problem, itโ€™s how you use it.

Not arguing Big Manโ€”just discussing. If I wanted ChatGPT to do it for me, Iโ€™d be a hell of a lot more persuasive.

Agreed.

Personally itโ€™s massively increased my productivity in the workplace and therefore my earnings.

I cant say anything else apart from that ๐Ÿคท

As for โ€˜shoving it down our throats,โ€™ Iโ€™d argue itโ€™s more about encouraging the public to find helpful applications. Itโ€™s not my place to convince you, but dismissing it as a con feels shortsighted. AI isnโ€™t going away, and ignoring it may mean missing opportunities.
January 17, 2025 at 11:56 AM
I was trying to say that spell check and predictive textโ€”the everyday tools we all useโ€”are as basic, if not more so, than modern language models. Yet we donโ€™t typically consider those to be AI. This highlights that what we call AI today often builds on existing technologies weโ€™ve taken for granted.
January 17, 2025 at 11:55 AM
I would wholeheartedly disagree about it being a con. AI isnโ€™t just LLMs. Sure, there are grifters and chancers whoโ€™ll slap a shiny wrapper on existing tools and push unnecessary use cases, but the underlying tech itself is absolutely not a con

We donโ€™t all have academics in our back pockets.

I do have 4o.

Itโ€™s machine learning, which is under the umbrella of AI.

Where we all personally draw the line on what is AI or not is all a bit of a boiled frog syndrome.
January 17, 2025 at 11:27 AM
I think thatโ€™s just an issue with use rather than the tool itself.

You donโ€™t ask it to give you the answer; you ask it to tutor you so you can learn.

Humans are lazyโ€”thatโ€™s not the softwareโ€™s fault. We just need to be better with the tools we have available.
January 17, 2025 at 10:54 AM
I would disagree.

โ€œAI, write me a news storyโ€ and โ€œAI, help me correct my spelling, grammar, and point out any holes in my thought processโ€ are very different ways of using the tools available to us.

Itโ€™s about using AI to enhance your work, not to do it for youโ€”at least, thatโ€™s how I see it.

it's tuesday evening and we're korean
Absolutely zero shade at all, but why were so many reporters and politicians drunk on a Monday evening?
I am, incidentally, pretty drunk rn (the job is 24/7!!!). This is the most Korean thing I've ever done.
