SJO-->ASU-->LIT I like to travel and take pictures. If I post it, I shot it. At least tied for title of world's most happily married man. When I'm home, it's in Arkansas. Lots of nice people here. Take our governor... please! My site: 5centsphotos.com

Thanks, Marc! A beautiful place to see these things.

Thanks, Susan! Woodcreepers are fun, but this one was very different from the ones I see here.

Yes, they do! Interesting sound- you should look it up!

Now how did she get there? 😆
jon5cents.bsky.social
I certainly hope so! I've gotten lucky enough to see them almost every time, but no killer pictures yet. We may be a bit low for them this time, but could take a day trip to a higher altitude. Here's a shot from my last trip. #birds #quetzal
A male resplendent quetzal is on a branch in a tropical cloud forest. It has a red breast, purple, blue and green body, and a very long green tail.

Thanks! We're going on a birding trip to Costa Rica soon, and I can't wait! We've been there many times, but this will be the first honest-to-goodness birding trip. Staying at a birding lodge, taking tours with guides. Should be fantastic!

We get that all the time, not so much right at the house, but when we go for a walk it seems to be 90% of what we hear and see.

My wife is slowly falling into it, too. Slowly.

Just tried it again, and had the same results. The top 20% of the shot is there, nothing else. I guess it wasn't meant to be...

I've got a small library now. And Merlin is one of my most-used apps!

Some of us take longer to find the finer things in life...

Thanks, Jean! I guess birding is a sign that I'm getting older 🤔

Many thanks, Mairead! I love to see them.

Thanks, P! Just one of several very interesting birds in the same area.

Any Acme boxes around? Nice capture!

Thanks, Tom. I think I'll try it one more time to see what happens.

Cold, wet and miserable was worth it in this case, imo. Since I wasn't affected 😆
jon5cents.bsky.social
Remarkable variety of looks there.
jon5cents.bsky.social
Probably so. I looked back, and mine look alright. Thanks!
jon5cents.bsky.social
Glad it's not just me.

I love those! I may do that, though it wasn't that special a shot...

Today's theme for #BirdofTheDay is #Spotted, and this black-striped woodcreeper fits the description. Gandoca-Manzanillo Refuge, Manzanillo, #CostaRica. #birds #photography
A woodcreeper is going up a tree amidst a large-leafed vine also going up the tree. The bird's back half is rufous, while the front half is black and white spotted.

Hmm. I can't imagine why it does it with one shot and not another. Maybe the world just isn't ready for my pine warbler 😆

🪶 Anyone having trouble posting a particular picture? I've just had the same shot of a palm warbler refuse to post right - I get the top of it. So let's try this one of a Baltimore oriole that #spotted me. "Do you mind? I'm eating." #BirdOfTheDay #birds #photography
A Baltimore oriole is on a feeder over a small container of grape jelly. It has its head raised, looking directly at the camera. Two orange halves are on the nearer side of the feeder.
