the worst trend in female character design for anthropomorphic characters in media has to be the absolute refusal to give women snouts.

gacha games and fortnite are especially egregious with this. come on. just a bit of a snout. it's not hard, people. give the wolf girl a snout. and DON'T squish it

growing up and think "yeah, this is America alright." The OP touched on it, but that type of mindset really does just revolve around "comfort". Cause if you have to acknowledge that yeah, America has always been like this? Then it can lead to self reflection about the benefits you've gotten-

The thing here is that like, what America even "is" revolves around lies. "Thanksgiving" and its history is still treated as a holiday rather than the slaughter that spawned it. I'm black, so I don't see it as "this isn't America" I see it and look back at the books and stuff I learned-

It's offensive hearing Whitefolk (esp. those in power) say "this isn't America" because the rest of us know this as distinctly American.

They're mourning America out of for the sake of how Trump's America makes them look/feel rather than for injustice—but that denial is catching up with reality.

I’ve definitely been guilty of this myself before on account of not knowing, but I do think it’s weird and shitty how AAVE tends to not only be stolen by random white people, but even viewed as “meme language” or whatever. Black culture being stolen is a tale as old as time, that much is obvious
