NEW PATREON DROP!
This month we've put out a new adventure for Pitcrawler: DEPTHS OF THE BLOODY PITS. It's a gorey little romp full of foolish nobles, communist vampire and lots and lots of blood. Its also the first in a trilogy we're titling IDOL HANDS. Enjoy!

Ghosts are everywhere if you know what to look for. And truly, is that not the most hallowed e'en of all?
jonnysims.bsky.social
"Why must the youth fight against themself" (instead of exorcising all the ghosts)
"Government leaving the youth on the shelf" (of the mortuary where their ashes are kept, tethering them to the mortal realm and their unfinished two-tonight ska business)

Sure, but two-tone does have those spooky vibes. I'll allow it. Also, there are real ghosts implied:
"Bands don't play no more" (because they're dead and ghosts now)
"Too much the fighting on the dance floor" (which has killed some people resulting in ghosts)
"People (and ghosts) getting angry"

Thats so lovely! My lawyers will be in touch regarding this flagrant infringment.

Also, right at the beginning when the shooting starts and your 2020s shooter brain is telling you to find cover and the game's just like "Uh, I think you'll find you're Robocop. You ARE cover."

The jokes are also properly on point. The payphone drug dealer quest was the hardest I've laughed at a videogame in a minute.

Heya! Ups and downs but getting through - yourself? And I think it's one of the few horror movies that actually gets scarier if you've seen a lot of horror. There are rhythms you expect that just aren't there. Most non-horror friends I've showed it to liked it, but it didn't spook em like it does me

Yup! Herk Harvey's only other directing was industrial instruction films. Carnival is one of my all-time faves - I think it almost works so well *because* he's not done other feature directing - everything's so weird and disjointed and, well, wrong that it all feels a bit nightmarish.

And proper 90s comics guns as well - so many lumps and vents and extra greebles

It was actually a "gritty" 80s action movie style strip, written by Mark Millar of all people (some of his earliest work and maybe the only comic of his I've ever fully enjoyed)

Its 90s British gag strip humour, so not all the jokes still hit (especially the ones about contemporary TV gameshows), but might provide a chuckle

Yeah, Sonic the Comic used to have loads of strips adapting Mega Drive/Genesis games (Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Kid Chameleon, etc.) and one of them was Decap Attack, except it very quickly stopped having anything to do with the game and just became a silly Halloween joke strip.
jonnysims.bsky.social
There's a whole generation of British millenials like me who've never actually *played* Decap Attack, but love it because an (extremely loose) adaptation of it ran as a back-up comedy strip for years in the 1990s Sonic the Comic.

From what I understand, its 30 books of build-up to this diorama. Which you can just look at in pictures (or in person if you go to Warhammer World)
The 1990 original diorama of the confrontation between Horus and the Emperor. They both look like squat little lumpy men. An old White Dwarf page about the diorama, including the original fiction snippet that inspired it.
