Agree that this is not about a Swedish nuclear weapons programme.

If the UK or France did assist Swedish acqusition of nukes, they would breach Article I of the Non-Proliferation Treaty -- effectively spelling the end of that cornerstone of the global nuclear order. share.google/CSKyzcT4uW6D...

Big moment for Europe: in December, fully electric cars outsold petrol-only cars in the EU for the first time.

This shows that clear, consistent policy works. Which is exactly why backtracking now would be a mistake. Rolling back targets or creating uncertainty would slow investment and innovation.

One of the least appreciated episodes in Nordic history is the Swedish debate on the nuclear question in the two decades after WW2. In fact, Olof Palme was one of the staunchest supporters of Sweden acquiring its own deterrent in the 50s. A small 🧵
