Quite a few of the people his administration are violently detaining and deporting are also Christians. Many of the refugees that would have come here this year are also Christian. We have not reached the depths of this man’s depravity yet.

If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, “guns-a-blazing,” to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities. For a religion that focuses so much on the complete victory of Jesus over all things, we spent a lot of time learning to be afraid of stuff. I know it was couched as being “on guard” but constantly being “on guard” is more like a trauma response than resting in the knowledge that Jesus loves me. 2/2

I grew up in a culture that told me I should be afraid of Halloween and avoid it so as to “not give Satan a foothold”. I spent many 10/31s in a state of anxiety. Now that I have kids who love Halloween I marvel at their joy at getting to pass out candy and see other kid’s costumes. 1/2

Being told over and over in church all the stories about Jesus caring for the poor, marginalized, least of these.

Jesus sat down with the culturally hated of his day and ate with them. Talked to them. Engaged with them in good faith, not from a place of moral superiority.

I will never leave my doctor’s practice because the in house phlebotomist is the only one who has ever been able to do the draw in one go with minimal bruising. She’s amazing.

My white as white can get husband grew up calling his mom’s cousin Uncle. It’s not that unusual. The real fun is in my family where we have not one but two people who were my parent’s cousins but they were raised to call them Aunt because their grandparents raised them for reasons.

For reasons still unknown to me, my father introduced me to This Present Darkness via audiobook (on tape) when I was 6 or so. I read all the kids books he wrote and the adult ones. The Visitation was my favorite. There was one I wasn’t allowed to read until I was older because it had *sex* in it 1/2

2/2 jerk chicken and I fell in love. And then I had a Jamaican professor in law school who I credit with helping me pass the Bar Exam. On the basis of those two things alone I am holding Jamaica close in my heart and praying for protection and for shelter from the storm.

I had a visceral reaction when I first started seeing advertisements for Gloo. It got worse when I found out that churches could “tailor” it to their specific brand of theology. Nope no no no no bad.
