I also went to the London Museum Docklands to the exhibition on mudlarking, with @cancienne.bsky.social and had a fab time (and not just laughing at the fun the exhibitors must have had slipping double entendre in one particular exhibit marker).

If you can get there, I thoroughly recommend this secret maps exhibition. Different ways of thinking about maps, why things are hidden, how they are hidden, the impact mapping can have. Utterly fascinating - and surprisingly moving in parts events.bl.uk/exhibitions/...

The detail of the landscapes I grew up with add an irreplaceable core of truth to even the most surreal of my tales. This is Western Australia. My stories live here.

I just found out I could buy a baby goat for £100, and now I really, really want a baby goat. I can see myself walking my goat, hiring them out to graze awkward patches of grass, bringing it as a talking point at parties. And suddenly I see how people end up with a chimp and 8 tigers....

If we don’t signal our virtue every now and again - then so many believe they are utterly alone - “virtue signalling” is not there to say “aren’t I good” but “there are more of us than you might imagine” and “fuck you for demanding that only the brutal and the bullies may speak”

Can we please end this culture where all companies you interact with are like needy teenagers in the throes of their first crush...do you like me? Do you really like me? Why don't you love me? Even my email account has started asking for feedback. It's exhausting.

Looked at myself in the mirror before leaving for work. Realised I'm channeling 'substitute art teacher, circa 1987' - coloured jeans, DMs with ribbon laces, v neck sweater with roll neck under, multicoloured bead necklace. That's my vibe, apparently.

Tragedy has befallen me...I have had to throw away teabags because they WENT MOULDY. The box was damp when it was delivered, so I was suspicious of them at first. But they lured me into a false sense of security by tasting ok for the first week. Then I had two manky cups of tea, & found mouldy bags

The time of Spook and Ghoul is ever closer - a good time therefore to creep yourself out with a bumper read of short fictions full of darkliness.
Available for less than ten English poundlets, it opens with Wigleaf longlisted piece - A Whisper of Before.
