VITALI: When we spoke back in 2023, we were at Tim Scott's announcement for president. At the time you told me he was a positive alternative to Trump and that we had to turn the page with a message that is 'winsome and hopeful.' What do you say now?

THUNE: Well, I'm still for winsome and hopeful

THUNE: These premiums are going up a little bit b/c of the expiration of the enhanced tax credits

VITALI: I think people hearing their premiums are doubling don't feel that it's a little bit

T: I'm just saying only a small part of that is attributable to the expiration of the enhanced tax credits

THUNE: Fund the government the old fashioned way -- I don't think you need rescissions

VITALI: Have you said to the WH, maybe don't do another rescissions package? Feels like it's poisoned the well

THUNE: It's in everybody's best interest, including the WH, to do a normal appropriations process

New in PN: Scenes from Portland's imaginary insurrection

Donald tried to make an example out of Portland & Portland replied with peaceful, joyful, naked protests that fully disarmed Donald's fascism. Portland showed us how to protest & we should carry that forward on Saturday. Well, maybe not the naked part.

Roberts has always felt that the suggestion that white people might discriminate on the basis of race is a profound moral injustice, much greater than black people being denied the right to vote bsky.app/profile/jayw...

Everything about John Roberts's approach to the Voting Rights Act makes sense when you remember that John Roberts has has always been hostile to the Voting Rights Act, never believed it was appropriate, and has spent most of his 45-year legal career working to hollow it out.
One of the Biggest Cases of the Supreme Court’s Term Is John Roberts’ Decadeslong Pet Project
If there’s one thing the Roberts court has been consistent on, it’s this.

roberts thinks it is an affront that a community of upstanding citizens can not do as it chooses when it comes to voting. if that means that they might discriminate against a racial minority, he has no problem with that either as long as it is facially neutral.

Remember the first few months of this year, when all we talked about was DOGE and spending cuts and waste, and this administration gutted USAID?

And now they’re giving $40 billion (!) to Argentina.

Insane the amount of amnesia in this country and in our politics and media.

“We can talk about it.” 🤔

TP USA spokesman wouldn’t immediately condemn the horrific Young Republican texts when challenged to by @adammockler.com — after Mockler summarized some of how Trump has been setting the stage for violence for a decade.

Putin decriminalized domestic violence in Russia yrs ago. It's a required step in the fascist playbook; @ruthbenghiat.bsky.social documented this over a century of fascism.

This regime of state-sanctioned gender terrorism serves the same purpose in oppressing women as Jim Crow did toward PoC.

Q: This has been reported for a while. Cory Mills was accused of beating a girlfriend in his DC apt. Are you concerned about these allegations?

JOHNSON: You have to ask Rep. Mills about that. He's been a faithful colleague. I don't know the details. Let's talk about things that are really serious
