Is now the right moment to say we should have moved from the soybean + maize diet for dairy cows ages ago? That we cannot save our farmers from a dangerous (and climate-killing) dependence to American soybean without growing plant proteins in the EU and re-developping grass-based diets? No?

The counter-tariffs will go up to 25% and enter into force gradually. Soybeans, copper, motorbikes and steel are among the American products targeted.

More retaliation is expected in the coming weeks.

We now understand that Melissa has been taken prisoner in Israel. Delivering humanitarian aid should never be a crime, and I urge the Israeli government to release her immediately.

I also call upon the French government and EU institutions to put maximum pressure on Israel for her release.

This morning the Israeli army has again attacked and kidnapped members of the Flotilla, including our MEP @melissacamara.bsky.social.

Israel must immediately release Melissa and the rest of the crew, and I call upon the French government to put maximum pressure on the Israeli government to do so.

Tens of millions of essentially factory farmed poultry are dumped into the countryside each year. They boost the population of mesopredators like foxes, reducing ground nesting bird populations. Back in 2024, Macron's majority is not an absolute majority, which in the French system means the government needs to stake its responsibility every time it wants to pass an important law, which is kinda not a big deal but undermines the president's political capital.
