My proposal is scheduled for review on 10/23. If the shutdown prevents its review, I will have to fire my staff. I have funds to pay through 3/26. I then will be forced to shut my lab down after 37 years. What a waste!! And for what?

Our purchasing department is down to one person, and he runs our stockroom. We used to have a five people in or purchasing department and they occupied a room to themselves! We are a major University, University of Washington. Is this happening on other campuses? 🧪

This is where my journey began 9 years ago…. Hopefully, if my NIH grant is funded, I will continue looking into our body’s ability to prevent metastases by removing the tumor’s protective Cys coating.
