Me: “In what way?”
TC: “Like, us as teachers?”
Me: “Well, there is a lot that is broken about the education system in this country, but there is currently a teacher shortage. You will be in high demand, and I hope you’ll be okay.”
This is 2025.

I started class today by acknowledging the government shutdown and how earlier this week the governor defied voters and opted the state into the federal school voucher program. A teacher candidate looked at me and said, “Are we going to be okay?” #EduSky #AcademicSky

Piper and June relaxing before we went to the art fair today. They got a lot of attention and pets there, and the humans answered a lot of questions, which is typical in the day of the life of a #greyhound owner. #SkyHounds
A brindle greyhound with a white face is lying on a teal, gold, and cream striped area rug in front of a bank of windows. She is looking at the camera. A black greyhound with a graying face has her head resting on a teal dog bed pillow. Her eyes are closed, and one of her ears is alert (pointed). A black greyhound is sitting in a gray dog bed. She is looking out the window to the right of the frame. A brindle greyhound is sitting on the area rug next to her. She is looking at the camera. They are in the mid ground. There is a gray couch with pink pillows in the background. There is light toned flooring in the foreground and a newel post to the left in the foreground. A black greyhound is sitting in a gray dog bed. A brindle greyhound is sitting on the area rug next to her. They are both looking at the camera. There is a walnut coffee table and gray couch with pink pillows in the background.

Stephanie Anne Shelton (queer literacies) @sashelton.bsky.social and Stephanie Toliver (Black girl literacies) @srtoliver.bsky.social are the two who come to mind immediately.

SO FUN to watch Venus play (and win) doubles! 🤩🎾 #USOpen

Happy to see how well Taylor Townsend played singles in this tournament. Wish she could have kept going, but I hope she takes this momentum into future matches! #TennisSky #USOpen

Super bummed about Ben Shelton. 🎾#USOpen #TennisSky

💯🙄 I’ve been wildly unimpressed with this person doing the interviews. While watching one of the Alcaraz post-match interviews, I commented how I would like to be the one conducting the interviews and could almost guarantee I would do a better job.

THANK YOU. I thought that’s what I heard! Came here to confirm.

We always say her white and silver highlights make her look distinguished. ☺️

Hello from one brindle June to another!
A closeup of a brindle greyhound with a mostly white face. She has her head on a gray blanket and is lying on a coral dog bed.

Hello, good boy! Look at all that hair! Get in all the snuggles you can. 🥹

Thank you! I’m biased, but I agree with both statements. 😂 They are so quirky, and we definitely refer to Piper as spicy sometimes.

Pausing work and reading about the fresh horrors of today to take and post some Piper photos. Just love her expressive little face. #Greyhound #SkyHounds
A black greyhound with white whiskers peppered throughout her face and chest is sitting in the Sphinx position. She is to the right of the frame on a gray and teal striped rug. A staircase is in the background on the left of the frame. A closeup of a black greyhound with a graying muzzle, head resting on crossed paws on top of a teal dog bed pillow. The greyhound is looking past the camera. A mid-range photo of a black greyhound with a graying muzzle, sitting up with one paw on top of a teal dog bed pillow. The greyhound is looking to the right of the camera. A closeup of a black greyhound with a graying muzzle, head resting on top of a teal dog bed pillow. The greyhound is looking at the camera, seemingly annoyed about her snooze being interrupted.

I realize broad science-literacy problems cannot generally be solved just by shoving more facts at people but I really wish more people understood that the entire purpose and mechanism of a vaccine is to educate your OWN immune system, making it about the most "natural" medical intervention possible

People living under fascism didn’t survive by giving up joy—they protected it.

They held onto the things fascism tried to erase: art, friendship, jokes, rituals, language, memory.

Not as escapism but as resistance. As proof they were still human.

Joy isn’t frivolous under fascism. It’s strategic.

Lettuce tastes great on your #July4 burger or salad. Harvesting it is an extremely difficult job because of the constant bending down and use of sharp tools. As we enjoy our holiday BBQs, let's remember the farm workers who make this meal possible. #WeFeedYou

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

So today is also a good day to reminder everyone that it is not an "honor" to have your book banned. It doesn't increase sales. It doesn't land you on the elusive banned books B&N front table.

What bans do: harm individuals, erase identity, destroy democracy.
Book bans are attacks on freedom.

Shana Youngdahl grew up in Paradise, CA, so the main event of this novel is based on the fire that destroyed Paradise. One of the reasons I enjoyed this novel so much was due to the unique setting and plot. Definitely worth checking out Youngdahl’s sophomore YA novel!

A Catalog of Burnt Objects is really unique. Set in the fictional town of Sierra, CA, the main character is faced with her brother recovering from addiction and preparing to graduate from hs. If that weren’t enough, her town burns due to a wildfire resulting from climate change. 📚👍🏻 #YALit
Book cover of A Catalog of Burnt Objects. One hand in silhouette reaches down from the top toward another hand in silhouette reaching up from the bottom. The hand at the top has some green foliage drawn over the top and the hand at the bottom is covered in flames. The background color of the book is teal. The title is centered in block letters colored to look like fire in oranges and yellows.
