Nog een keer de beerput in, gewoon omdat het zo leuk is 😉 In 2015 groeven we een perceel op waarbij uit historisch vooronderzoek bleek dat Maria Tesselschade en haar man daar gewoond hadden. Ik vond correspondentie tussen haar en PC Hooft over het graveren van glas. Maria was goed bevriend net Hooft

Nog een historische sensatie! In 2021 deden we een begeleiding van de aanleg van een riool op de plaats waar vroeger een Clarissenklooster lag. Deze is in 1572 in aanloop naar het beleg van Alkmaar gesloopt. Op oude 16de eeuwse kaarten is deze nog te zien. In 2015 hadden we al eens een stukje gezien

It’s not a stretch to say that during the First World War, the Canadian Corps established itself as the “elite fighting force of the British Empire.”

It was also composed, sometimes, of dudes in dresses!

My trip to Kosovo has really rattled me. History from 100 years ago I can handle. History from 27 years ago feels very raw, very present. The people you meet may have committed, or suffered, appalling acts of violence, and most people over 30 will have been refugees, forced to flee for their lives.
