The #BikeHFX community is amazing. So many people showing up in the rain, great music, bright lights, and lots of skilled marshals. Thanks everyone!

#BikeHFX I'm still looking for a few more marshals for Saturday's ride. If you can help out, please send me a message! @cyclehalifax.ca @criticalmasshfx.bsky.social

Last #KidicalMassHfx ride of the year with a great group of volunteers and participants. This #bikehfx event is always one of my favourites.

The best part of my commute in #bikehfx today (and every Tuesday). The graveyard always feels so quiet.

I'm sad to miss this one but if anyone is interested in marshalling for Kidical Mass this weekend they are in need of a couple volunteers!
We could really use a few more ride marshals for our #KidicalMassHfx ride this weekend in #BikeHfx. If you, or someone you know is willing & available Sunday morning at 9:30am, we'd love to have your/their support.

Ride marshals are integral to keeping our rides safe for kids and families.

Welp, it happened again. Hit by a driver in the bike lane/MUP in front of Purdys Wharf. I’m absolutely fine, so is my bike. Just mad.

Beautiful morning for a long ride in the woods. The trail was BUSY!

We rode 180km in 3 days on the Confederation trail, in PEI National Park and on quiet roads. We sought out coffee shops for pastries and dairy bars for ice cream. We sometimes rode fast to work out stress and catch sunsets. We also rode slow with some little friends who biked 20km! Such joy! 2/2

V had anxiety and being active was one way she managed it. She passed that on to me. My chest pain and shallow breathing showed up last week for the first time in years. Likely due to anger about bike lanes, a woods ban, climate anxiety, etc. So we went to PEI to ride our bikes in the woods! 1/2

Whacked myself with my pedal at Kidical Mass today but didn't even notice until I got home. Too busy soaking up the joy of kids on bikes. So grateful for this community after a tough week!

Our local fruit selection right now is incredible. We literally have a problem where we can't not buy fresh fruit even when we already have lots at home...

Has anyone ever seen a map of the province's roads that shows which ones have paved shoulders?

Yesterday we rode the Salt Marsh Trail in memory of V, exactly 7 years after she was hit by a car while biking near Truro, NS. It has become an annual tradition to ride the final route she ever completed. We chat, we ride, we toast, and some swim. It is always a special day! Wish she could join us.

It's been an exhausting month as a cycling advocate. Come marshal with me on Sunday and experience the joy that will help replenish some of that energy!

What we've been up to for the past month :)
We spent 21 days cycle touring in France, Switzerland and Germany! It was challenging, beautiful, stressful and incredible! We did 1240km by bike and many more by train. We will provide more details on the blog over the next few weeks because we definitely learned A LOT! 1/6

Up early because of jetlag allowed us to get my bike reassembled by 630 am. Since the sun was shining we headed out for a ride on the COLT. Nice to see so many bikes and #bikehfx friends!

Halifax's mayor wants to pause bike infrastructure projects even those already approved and funded by council.

So a couple of hundred cyclists - me included - showed up at City Hall this morning to politely show our disagreement. Active mobility infrastructure helps traffic congestion.

Thinking about those gathering in Halifax today to show support for bike infrastructure. Today we had a 4km ride to a city centre to catch a train and here is a snippet of the infrastructure we were treated to. Hard to not be sad that our vacation is coming to an end.

Come marshal with me! Kidical Mass is one of the most joyful events and a great way to get introduced to marshalling.
We're less than 3 weeks away from the first 2025 #KidicalMassHfx ride in #BikeHfx, and we're looking for a few more volunteer ride marshals to help us out this year. Want to know more about marshalling with us? Read on: 1/6

Has anyone in #BikeHFX braved the roads or bike lanes today? I'm guessing it will be another bus commute for me.

City sidewalks vs work sidewalks. They both had the same storm.

We exchanged the city streets for some beautiful trails today. Much more fun sliding around in the woods.
This was as much fun as we expected. Great trails in Victoria Park in #Truro and easy bike rentals from Bike Monkey.

Warning: Sooo slippery!! Literally couldn't even stand on the bridge bikeway tonight, let alone bike. Caught be totally off guard. Thankfully there was a small patch of snow on the side to walk down! And the helmet proves it was freezing rain.

Shared some laughs and "good luck" wishes with the #BikeHFX community while crossing the bridge this morning (just before it closed). Thankfully I was the one with the tail wind! Honestly it was the best part of my ride. Full separation from cars makes for safer cycling in any weather!
