This Sunday, I exposed Miles to my 90s childhood. We played Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles until we beat it. I'm a good father. 😂

I like Albany a lot and it’s weird that so many people are determined to tell me I don’t. 😂

It will take aggressive policy responses, fundamental institutional reforms, a sh*tton of public $$, & a lot of people being prosecuted & jailed for their lawless authoritarian crimes. If it takes generations, it will be the failure of government & imagination & elite accountability. Again.
I pushback on it’s going to take generations to undo whatever stupid thing Trump is doing analysis. It won’t if people (white people) decide they give a fuck about a functional government.

One thing that will drive me into becoming the Joker is giving clear directions while being asked whether I meant my clear directions. 🙃

This has been the strangest day in politics. That’s a years worth of political news in less than 24 hours.

Marjorie Taylor Greene is going to pull a Wolf of Wall Street. I believe her resignation when I see it.

I met with a writing mentor today and they gave me great advice, but also emphasized that the R&R is really good. It was nice.

Trump’s desire to be loved leads to contradictions and no real loyalties. He’s always been like this.

I hope universities decide to lower costs and make nursing is an accessible degree at all levels regardless of the bone headed moves of Trump, especially because they are perfectly capable of doing so

The president should mind being known as a fascist. Sigh
Q: Are you affirming that you think President Trump is a fascist?

MAMDANI: I've spoken about--

TRUMP: That's okay. You can just say yes. I don't mind.

I’m meant to be in an hot environment. I’m from the desert, but I’ll just continue to freeze in Albany. 🙃

I was talking to a student about this during office hours! I told them their professors are outstanding in their field and they should take advantage of that and really learn from them. I think a lot of students at UAlbany don’t necessarily think about that.
Thinking a lot lately about the simple fact that college allows people to spend about 15 weeks immersed in a disciplinary conversation with an expert in that field. And what a special thing that is.

The US Coast Guard reversing their decisions on Swastikas and nooses not being hate symbols is a small reminder that these folks are not untouchable nor can they just do whatever the hell they want, but constituents have to care.

My constant reminder to students that you’ll enjoy college a lot more if you try.
once again grading and lamenting the disappearance of students' voices and students' work and their replacement by LLMs.

I hate this game of "am I grading ChatGPT or a person?"
Wrote up a little intervention post/explanation for my class about why using LLMs for trying to learn programming (as first time learners!) is bad and detrimental datavizf25.classes.andrewheiss.com/news/2025-11...

I’ve watched season 2 of Love Life far too many times because I crave smart stories on Black life and love because there are damn near none.

What you’re telling me is Duffy doesn’t want me to wear Daisy Dukes on the airplane? Well you tell him he’ll tear my exposed thigh on plane seat from my cold, dead hands, thank you very much. Maybe he should worry about so many planes falling out the sky. Do I need to wear a suit to plummet?

TGIF kept America stableish. Sigh
America stopped working when TV shows stopped having catchy theme songs.

Trump should have never been allowed to run much less stay for a second term for as long as he has.
There is one and only position that makes any sense if you really take it seriously: say openly and unapologetically that he must be removed from office. Not just call on people to condemn it, not just fret about norms. He is literally trying to kill you. Act like it.

The best way to look at the Trump presidency is as a shiny example that white supremacy has no standards beyond rich and white.

Them breaking up the services of the DOE into different agencies is another example of the administration doing shit just to do shit. They aren’t strategic, they just enjoy the idea of doing something even when it’s not useful or helpful

Auburn’s anti-DEI compliance forms: What will happen to faculty members?
The compliance forms were sent weeks after Sen. Tommy Tuberville posted on Facebook a conservative blog post on an Auburn criminology course. The book has a section entitled, “Queer Criminology.”
